“Very clean with friendly owners. Best value in Anaconda.”

Was looking for a pet-friendly motel in Anaconda, and while they don't advertise themselves as such, the owner was willing to work with us. Owner, Roger, was very friendly and hospitable.

While the rooms are a bit on the small side and older (probably built in the mid-seventies), they're impeccably maintained and comfortable. The entire property was very clean - a sharp contrast to other hotel/motels in Anaconda. The location is very convenient with a beautiful park just across the street. A mini-fridge in the room was a nice bonus for dinner's leftovers.

Showers were great with plenty of hot water. Beds were a bit on the firm side but still comfortable. Linens were clean, and housekeeping staff was attentive. Was a bit discouraged that there was no hot tub, but with Fairmont Hot Springs just a few minutes away, it really wasn't an issue. Wireless internet was exceptionally fast with great reception through the entire motel.

Continental breakfast was a bit of joke with just donuts and cold cereal but the coffee was hot and fresh every morning. For a more robust breakfast, consider Doniven's Family Diner about 5 minutes south, also on Park St. Pizza and burgers at the Classic Diner was also great. Old Works Golf Course is just 5 minutes away as well.

Great combination of service, value and comfort. Will definitely be returning for ski season.

“Clean, Friendly, Roomy, EXTRA COMFY BEDS”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2009

This was our second stay in 3 months. The first one was pleasant so when we had to return for settling of estate issues, this was our first choice. We booked a 7 day weekly rate for just $280 for 2 queen beds. We ended up staying 3 nights and they still refunded us $50.00 even though we didn't expect it. The beds were the MOST comfortable ones we have stayed in (due to family emergency we have stayed in 11 quaint little inns in the last 3 months) -brand new sealy posture pedics.

The owners were so nice. They do have Wi-Fi and continental breakfast. Microwave and fridge in room.

This town is quaint and simple. You must eat at the Classic Cafe wish we had found it the first day of our first trip in April. If you go out to hunt sapphires...Don't go to the place in Phillipsburg by the candy shop unless you just want to buy finished Jewelry. Go out to Skulkaho (spelled something like that-They can tell you at Vagabond). There you'll get to wash the gems out of dirt buckets...You may want to get the $5 garnet bucket too. We had much fun. A friend also said to go to Crystal park, but we never made it there...we went to Spencer Idaho to get opals instead (If you go there, got to the first place on the left when you turn left at the end of the street-big yellow sign).

Anyway, we enjoyed the hospitality at the Vagabond and would definately recommend it if you don't need new and frilly.

Rooms were large enough and furnished with good taste. Rooms can be from eighties but kept up and renovated very well. Everything was clean inside and also outside. We would be happy to return and recommend.

  • Liked — Rooms decorated with good taste.
  • Disliked — Outside there is only asphalt, no playground for childrens.
