“Historic railroad hotel a western dream!”

Picture perfect in the falling snow, this inn has so much to offer and makes an excellent home base for visiting Missoula and Flathead Lake. Bed was super comfortable, western themed room decor charming not cutesy, REALLY GOOD BOOKS lying around and displayed everwhere - and no wonder, hosts Thom and Grace are former teachers, world travelers and great conversationalists when they join you at the evening or breakfast table. And if you need a break from people you can shmooze with their well-behaved golden retrievers or hang by the fire with one of those books. Oh wait - there are gorgeous hand made quilts and mittens made from recycled wool sweaters...I could go on but I'm busy planning my next visit!

In was a pleasant surprise to find such a cozy place in the little town of Alberton. Our room was tiny, but the bed was comfy. Would recommend this to anyone needing a great little place to "nest".

Room Tip: Get room with a full bath - ours had a sink in the bedroom & only the shower & toilet were i...

“Wonderful B&B in the quirkiest town in the US!”

We stayed here one night on the way from MN to WA. Rolled into town about 4:30 PM, hosts Grace and Thom Garret were out, sign said "Back at 5". So we wandered over to the little farmers' market to shop while waiting for them to get back from "town" (Missoula, 30 miles away). Everyone asked, "are you staying at the B&B? Grace and Thom should be back any minute". This is one of those towns where not only does everyone know everyone else, they know each other's dogs. Had a beer at the Sportsman's Bar next door (absolutely not to be missed), and an excellent sandwich at the Fat Belly Deli. The B&B is in a century-old hotel reputed to be haunted by fairly benign ghosts (no paranormal experiences for us, sadly). Very comfortable & clean; Grace and Thom are wonderful hosts and are full of stories. Breakfast was wonderful. We will be back!

Room Tip: All rooms are very nice; we stayed in the

OMG this is the cutest little B&B in an unusual place!
We stayed here on our way to Yellowstone. I was looking for a cute, quite B&B with a little history and got much more than expected.
Thom and Grace, the innkeepers, have transformed this former railroad hotel into the most comfortable place to stay. Each themed room has been customized with wonderful themes including quilts made by Grace. Their passion is obvious in this labor of love for everyone to enjoy.
We stayed in the Montana Summer Room and loved the colors and the bed was soo comfortable I just wanted to sleep in late. But then I might have missed the deelicious breakfast of omlette, fresh fruit juice and coffee.
Can't miss with this one: Reasonable prices, great rooms, comfortable surroundings and Thom and Grace were soo easy to chat with and of course really know the area very well.

Room Tip: Check out the website for GREAT pictures pf each room

“A real getaway feeling”

We stayed at Ghost Rails by accident, when the nearby hotel overbooked us. What a pleasant accident this was! Grace and Thom are absolutely charming and the B&B is a step back into the old world west -- but with indoor plumbing! We felt right at home from the moment we checked in through the late evening chat with other guests and a bit of wine. The stories flowed. Thom and Grace tell wonderful stories and then get up early to serve a delicious breakfast and make every guest feel welcome and comfortable. Be sure to check out all the quilts throughout the B&B -- they are Grace's handwork! We went off to our rafting trip on the Clark Fork River refreshed and ready for a day of adventure.
