The Landhaus is quite small - about 25 rooms, and that is part of its charm - small enough to get to know people, but large enough for a good variety of guests. Its on an intimate scale.
There's no pool, but there is a magnificent lake, and it was warm enough in September to swim. Just great after a hard day's sight seeing! Oh, there are Austrian cakes every afternoon on the terrace, so the choice is cake first and swim, or the other way round. Difficult!
The rooms vary in size, aspect and price: we had a room at the side with a view down to the lake, and situated on the road side of the hotel. We did not find the traffic a problem at night - it is not a six lane highway! If you do not get a room facing the lake, don't worry - you can see all you want from the terrace and restaurant. Walk down into the garden, get a sunlounger, and look at the scene - or swim.
It is a 15 minute walk into the town - but time it right and you can catch the bus outside the hotel. And you can take the Postbus to Salzburg or Bad Ischl, and onward from there. Easy to read timetable at the stop. We travelled easily to Hallstatt, Gmunden and Salzburg. A car might be good if you want to go to other places.
As others have said, the hotel has its regulars who go back year after year - and we can see why. The food is excellent - always a meat/fish/vegetarian option. The cuisine is very Austrian (what a surprise) but light. A good selection of wines as well. The hotel staff are really good - with the small size, they can get to know their guests, and the service is personalised.
Would we go again - Yes! One of the best hotels we have ever stayed in.
