“real hospitality”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

We had booked a room from the center of St. Wolfgang but due to a double booking we had to stay in Gasthof Burgelstein which ended up to being good luck.
The Hotel is next to a bus stop from Strobl to St. Wolfgang so we got there easily. Of course it is easier to move arround in that area by car, but then there is the parking problem.
The Owner of the place was really nice and helpful (like it has been told in every review). He made also sure that he compensated the double booking, though it wasn't his problem really. We got a really big and nice suite from the top floor. There was a fully equipt kitchen so it would have been possible to prepare your own meals there. In the same space with the kitchen was livingroom and access to the balcony. In the other end of the condo was one big bedroom, one small bedroom+ bathroom +wc.
The restaurant/ breakfast room was cosy, though the big space felt less cosy in the evening when there were not so many people dining. Food was ok and the prices were fair. The breakfast was really good and had a feel of freshness.
The staff is friendly and language skilled. They help you to book tickets to the mountain train and offered all the information that we needed on our stay in St.Wolfgang.

We made a reservation for one night late in the evening on the internet. As we set out the next morning we received a call from the manager, Wolfgang Linsmayer, saying they were terrible sorry, but they had a late night arrival and he took the last room available. They hadn't checked the internet reservations because it was the middle of the night and hadn't seen that we had in fact booked the last room. Mr. Linsmayer reassured us that he had taken care of it and had actually booked us in a neighboring B&B that was right on the water. He was very apologetic and very sincere. We set out on our trip and when we arrived, he had done what he promised. We had a beautiful room in a neighboring hotel for the same price we had committed to on-line. He drove us there personally, spoke with the desk, arranged everything and made sure we were all set. He was a man of his word, honest and wanted to insure that we were happy, satisfied and taken care of. I doubt highly anyone in the states would have bent over backwards for us the way he did. He was lovely!!!! We will definitely stay at the Gasthof Burglstein when we are back in St. Wolfgang!

“Perfect stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2011

We stayed for few day around New Year"s Eve and we enjoyed every bit of our vacation. The hotel is brand new and the owner is very friendly and helpful. The food was great starting with the Burglstein Brettl (pork ribs) that you have to try if you get there, potatoes salad, Wiener snitzel and fish out of the lake. I would recommend it to anybody !

“An excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2011

The hotel is very nice, everything is new, the food is very good and cheap and Wolfgang, the owner of the hotel is very nice and helpful (he even took us for free with his bus to the Christmas Fair in Strobl). The location is close to Postalm sky area, to Eurotherm baths and not so far from Slazburg.

“Wonderful relaxed hotel with great rooms and friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

Some have said that this Hotel is a little remote from St Wolfgang and Strobl, this is true but not a problem. The bus stop is outside and the walk by the lake to Strobl is a superb 30 minute walk. St W is a little too much of a tourist trap anyway. For the walker the trip to Schwarzensee lake is worthwhile as is the walk over the Falkenstein. Thanks to the excellent staff and the wide variety of things to do we hope to be back in 2011.
