“Awesome place to stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2006

The B&B at Arcadia academy was just right. Amazing views, tastfully decorated historic rooms and a real honest to goddness home cooked breakfast! I've never been to a better more restful b&b. The owners are humble, grateful & awesome to deal with. The history and shear immensity of the histroic buildings are overwhelming!
This is a must visit place!
The restuarant is home cooking at its best! Five stars for those who enjoy real food, tastefull prepared.

“Beware of B&B!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 September 2006

The Academy is beautiful! It's worth the trip to see the grounds; however, I strongly urge anyone NOT to stay at the Bed & Breakfast owned by the family that owns the academy. There is a very nice and stronlgy recommended B&B on the academy grounds that is on the Historic registry.

When my husband and I arrived, we had to be directed to the correct person for check-in which was located in the main building of the academy. When I booked this B&B, I was not told that they were currently renovating the building we would stay in; however, when we finally were shown to our room, we were told of renovations to the room directly across the hall from our room. We were also told that breakfast would be served downstairs in the morning. When we got ready for bed that night, we learned that we had one working outlet, behind the headboard of the bed. The bed was so hard, I contemplated sleaping on the sagging couch in our room. But I was up sick all the night from the dust levels in the building....I have asthma. The next morning my husband went down for breakfast and found no one else in the house but us. He then went over to the main building to ask about breakfast and was told that it is always served there in the resteraunt. There were no drinks available to us, not even water - other than tap water in our room.

The resteraunt is a little pricy but has goodfood; we seemed to always have this particular waitress that was not at all nice....very rude behavior!

We ended up leaving after the first night! Great for a day trip, but don't stay here...The wiring in the building is original and they are not required by law to update it since the building will only house a few people.

  • Liked — the claw foot tub
  • Disliked — the bed and the dust

i drove into the front gates and there it was this massive old building, and a tree lined driveway, It was so pretty. The church stood massive and out of the windows of the Antique Mall you could see the chapel. Later on in the dining room down stairs i found out that they had weddings in the chapel. My goodness what a place to be married. If by chance i meet my prince Charming, there is were i will be married,Loved my visit

“You'll never want to leave this wonderful place!”

A wonderful family runs this bed and breakfast, hostel, antique shop establishment. Their kitchen turns out the most wonderful food you ever wrapped your mouth around! the bread, homemade daily, is the best i've ever tasted. Giant cinnamon rolls! Beautiful chapel tour, old cemetary on the grounds. Sit down and eat and visit with the owners and hear about the history ofk the place. i was there in 2003 and plan to bring my family back to experience it with me.

“Heaven on Earth”

This was a vacation for the mind and soul. We planned on an overnight stay and ended up extending it a couple of days. The Academy has a vast history of everything from a civil war hospital, to a Catholic school for girls. It is said to be haunted by the nuns who used to live there. The owners run it with a the attitude that everyone who visits is family and they definately make you feel that way. There is a great bed and breakfast, antique shop, art shop, and a restaurant that has homemade bread with the wheat ground fresh every morning. The several acres of ground that it sits on is like a sancutary to walk around in. The Chapel there has the most beautiful stained glass windows you will ever see. Check it out at ********************.com You won't regret it.
