I am in the final night of my 5 night stay here in Austin, MN and at Countryside Inn. As others have mentioned, it is a "mom-and-pop" operation. It is your basic roadside motel, just off the interstate on the edge of town (though downtown is about only 2 miles away). Decor throughout the motel is basic and a little outdated. The exterior is equally pretty basic. However, it is clean and maintained. There is adequate lighting on the outside of the motel and in the hallways. Rooms are sufficient lighting too.
Rooms have all the basic items you'd expect in a basic motel, and maybe a little bit extra: activity table, microwave, fridge, coffeemaker, alarm clock. Room has an area to hang clothes and a basic dresser. Shower is good, though water drained a little slow. There is a basic continental breakfast, nothing spectacular but let's you get something in your stomach. No pool, business center, or exercise room, but does have wi-fi. There is also a washer and dryer for your clothes if needed.
Hotel also feels quite secure. Front door is accessible by key only at night and someone can be called 24/7. All doors to guest rooms are electronic locks, just like in the chains.
Bed was clean, though a bit firm for my tastes. No lumpiness or springs however, so bed being firm is just a personal preference. That said, I slept fine.
Staff, which is the "mom-and-pop" were friendly enough with me. Housekeeping is done daily and was done reasonably well.
Best thing is probably the price. Rate very competitive, especially for what you're getting. I considered some of the chain hotels in town, but were significantly higher in rate and had questionable reviews.
I would absolutely stay here again, assuming I was looking for good, basic, inexpensive motel in Austin.
