“great”

Myself, my husband, my sister and her husband all went to Thayers, participated in the mystery dinner and stayed for the night.
We had a great time, Sharon is a wonderful host.
We had fun at the mystery dinner – the food was fantastic!!!
Here is the good stuff:
My husband and brother in law are great skeptics and were humoring my sister and myself with all of this “haunted stuff”.
My sister and her husband stayed in the “most haunted room” but did not have any activity.
My husband and I stayed in a “regular room” and definitely had something going on.
It started in the bathroom with the lights going on and off at random – I though that it was my husband, but the switch was in the bathroom where I was and he was out of the room.
My husband being a skeptic and somewhat of a handy man checked for loose bulbs etc….. and of course found no obvious reason for the light to be going on and off.
We got my sister and her husband and as the morning in our room progressed the light in the bathroom would go on and off at our request.
The morning ended with my husband and brother in law in the bathroom looking for the microphone and switch for someone to be controlling the light (which they did NOT find) and my sister and myself in the bed room saying “please turn on the light” and “please turn off the light” and being responded to every time. It was amazing.
At breakfast we talked to Sharon and she was not at all surprised and did not feel the need to defend the questioning that the guys were giving her. I loved that.
As we were leaving Sharon told us to pay special attention to our daughters nutrition – She did not know that she had leukemia and suffered greatly from nausea and vomiting.
WOW AND THANK YOU IS ALL THAT WE HAVE TO SAY.

“Thayer's haunted B&B stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2007

I was given a 2 night stay as a 50th Bday gift. Our Family lake cabin is near Annendale, and we were given a 2 night stay as part of my 50th Bday celebration. Though we stayed in what is labelled the most haunted room, we didn't experience anything unusual. The room was very comfortable, and the place has a lot of history thaty Sharon likes to share with her guests. We were there over the 4th of July, and got to attend the Annendale 4th celebrations too (Tom Thumb Donuts!!!). Great small town fun. I was lucky enough to schedule a reading from Sharon---wow---she is good!!! Two years later and I am still giving thought to her words. So if you can, schedule a reading to compliment your stay.

“The best B & B there is!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2007

My husband and I stayed at the Thayer 3 years ago and just loved it! In Oct. of 2006 my sisters and I went for the Ghost Hunting Package. Between the class, the food, the room, the fun, and of course Sharon we had the best time!!!! Then in May 2007 my husband and one of our son's went to a Ghost Hunting class and stay. They loved it!!! I can say for sure that my husband and I will be returning for another stay at the Thayer, hopefully soon!! If you are looking for a B & B that has everything, this is the place. It is peaceful yet exciting!

  • Liked — the comfortable atmosphere
  • Disliked — honestly, there is nothing that I didn't like.

“Thayer's is a wonderful getaway, a special place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2007

We chose the Thayer because we were staying with family in Minnesota and wanted a short getaway while our child stayed with the grandparents. Of course, the ghost hunting classes and high teas really got our attention.

When we first got there, we were a bit surprised to see the hotel sat on a major street. But the second we walked through the door, it didn't matter at all. Sharon Gammell has done an amazing job of creating a place that feels far away from the stresses of daily life. The place is decorated so authentically with period furnishings that you really feel like you could be in another place and time. It felt protected and relaxing.(and yes, the breakfast was simply phenomenal)

We came mid-week, so we missed some of the organized activities, but we got an even greater bonus because we got to spend time talking to Sharon, who is a uniquely insightful, thoughtful and interesting person. Aside from the little touches like being greeted with a lovely welcome note, and cookies and chocolate, we just enjoyed talking to Sharon who is a talented psychic, chef and business-owner. We felt right at home there.

As to the ghosts, well, I heard footsteps upstairs at about 3am when no one was awake up there. I suppose it could have been her cats, but one of her staff said there’s often a ghost that walks down the hall. Who knows. Sharon says the ghosts are her friends. I believe it. We’ll definitely be back as often as we can, and we’re urging relatives to go for a high tea family gathering.

“Ghost Hunting 101”

My husband and I are avid "Ghost Hunters" watchers. When I heard about the haunted Thayer Bed and Breakfast, I thought that it would be a wonderful way to spend time with my husband. We were amazed right away at the decorations around the B and B. Everything is Victorian--Everything!! Sharon, the hostess led us after a sumptuous dinner in a class about ghost hunting. There are several ghosts which inhabit the B and B. All are friendly, though none was named Casper. There are also ghost cats roaming the grounds. We took a trip to a local graveyard and came back full of stories and photographs of the site. We took several pictures to see if we could capture some paranormal phenomena. We slept wonderfully and were awakened with a breakfast fit for a victorian king!! I can't say enough good things about the Thayer. We'll be back!
