We stayed here after a pretty bad experience at the Holiday Inn across the street. In comparison, it's less expensive and a nicer, quieter hotel.

Reviews were old, and hotels were scarce for the holiday week, so I took a chance on this one. Hoping that the hotel would be ok for the 3 nights Glad we did!

Pros:
-Room was a suite with couch and Queen Bed
-Mini fridge and microwave in room - fridge is important to our family
-Sink area was outside of bathroom
-Bed was comfortable
-Room was clean
-Pool was warm and clean
-Staff was very friendly
-Breakfast was as good as any place else we have stayed - better than some

Cons:
-While staff was very friendly - not always easy to find
-Internet was very slow in room and didn't always work depnding on where you were sitting
-Lighting in room was a bit dark
-Extra blankets in room for couch would have been nice
-maid service was a bit slack by out 3 day

We come to Alex every 2-3 months to visit family and have stayed in most of the hotels. While I'm a price shopper I want a clean, comfortable hotel with good pool facilities. AmericInn Lodge & Suites had it all. I think my 8 year old said it best - Choc donuts and a pool mom will swim in, when can we come back?

While I will still compare prices - this will be my first choice.

This hotel was quite shabby, the room was filthy, as was the pool. It had some kind of a gross film on it. Our room was right next to a vending and ice machine, and it kept us up all night, the slamming of pops down the chute, and the super loud ice machine. On top of that, there is about a 1/2 inch gap between the bottom of the door and the floor, so you hear EVERYTHING out in the hallways all night long, doors slamming, loud people....
The bathroom had mold in it, and wreaked like smoke in the morning, even though we had a non smoking room.
When we checked out the general manager of this hotel was working, and asked me how the stay was. I told her about how loud it was, and that all the noise kept waking my young child up, she could not have cared less. Her response was, "Oh yeah, that room by the vending machines, I know." Calling the corporate office did no good either, as the manager of the hotel has to do something to correct the problem, and she had no desire to do so. Very unprofessional manager, gross breakfast in the morning, UGH. There are so many nice hotels in Alexandria, go somewhere else and save yourself the hassle of this place, and learn from my mistake.
And to the MANAGER of this place, if you read this, and I hope you do, I would not have written this review if you would have addressed my concerns on the morning of checkout, but you just ignored me, and did not do your job.

We went to the AmericInn after taking one look at the Days Inn in Alexandria (yuck) and after leaving the Super 8 there (disgusting). The girl at the front desk was very sympathetic and sweet and showed us the room before we said we wanted it. The last room they had was a suite and we did not want to pay that much but the rate they gave us was so good we took it. Everything was clean and neat and the breakfast was very good for continental. If you have to stay in Alexandria this is the place to go!
