I really hate to dish negative comments about this place, as it has it's good points. But a few upgrades would go far for both the hotel and it's guests. Plus-- it's central reservation site turned me off completely.
This is a clean hotel,no doubt. The pool area was nice, the water temperature was warm, which is hard to come by these days in the coldest months of climates this extreme, but other than that I expected a bit more comfort and luxury. This hotel is conveniently located off the Interstate..too much so....I would have been concerned staying in a room off the other end of the hotel as it would have been a stone's throw from the (icy) interstate exit. Although I can not complain about the traffic noise in this room.
Someone commented about the itchy, floral bedspreads. Agreed. Not just tacky, and hard on the eyes, but one gets spoiled on the new alternative down comforters that is common in hotels these days. My biggest gripe however was the pillows, or lack of, as this made for a restless, uncomfortable night. mattress was adequete (at best), and the showerhead was one of the worst I can remember in all my hotel visits. I am confused as to the few who commented on the breakfast being good, I found this anything but enjoyable. Scrambled eggs that tasted as if they were produced from a mix, sausage that was dry and a rather mysterious and weird texture.
$90.00 a night is not either a outragious or reasonable charge per night, but as someone who travels frequently I have seen MUCH better for the money. Hotels are getting very competitive these days, and pulling out all the stops. This place is not even in the running.
Last thing-- I called central reservations originally to book this room as I could not find the direct line to the hotel, after several unproductive minutes and several absurd questions later, guy with broken English asks "And how much are you willing to pay for this room?" Huh!?! I barely knew what to say to that other than "Excuse me!?! What kind of question is that!?! Flustered,, I finally hung up and called the hotel directly. I am really growing frustrated with hotels I can not speak to directly.
