What can I say? The cooked-to-order meals in the on-site restuarant that are included in the cost was a wonderful way to start the day. The rooms have been completely renovated, including high-effeciency air conditioners with directional flow, flooring, new curtains, bedding/pillows, tiled bath/showers including new towels.
The completely tiled main floor is exceptionally impressive. The pool with hottub is outstanding. The front desk staff and waitresses are cheerful and very helpful.
We will definately stay again.

Decided to stay here on our yearly trek from Detroit to South Dakota. My wife won't let me forget it, and I wish I could.
First thing upon entering this outdated dingy room, I went to turn on the A/C. The curtains went to the floor. So, to get the A/C in the room, you have to open the curtains. I personally don't care for everyone walking by our room, being able to watch me and my family!
Within 5 minutes of walking in the room, my two year old son found a pill on the floor, and promptly put it in his mouth. Nice job vacuuming!!
I wouldn't even think of trying out the hot tub! As grimy and dirty as the room was, can you imagine what "things" are floating in there?

To top it off, the room was close to $70 after taxes!
Several attempts have been made to try and voice some concerns with management over my son finding drugs on the floor. They have refused to even respond. Thank goodness I got it out of his mouth before he swallowed it!
I'd sleep in my car before I stayed at this poor excuse for a motel.
P.S. The wifi sucked.

I last stayed this hotel in 1985 when it was the Albert Lea Inn. I decided to try the newly minted Knights Inn version of this hotel. I wa surprised to see new granite flooring, new lobby, great pool and hot tub, fast reliable wifi (I don't know why so many properties don't seem to care enough to make their wifi work well) and fast courteous front desk staff.

The complimentary breakfast was a real breakfast. I opted to upgrade from one of their standard free breakfast choices to a sausage and cheese omelette for another $2. Delicious.

Albert Lea isn't a four star hotel town. But for the price I was surprised at the quality of this property.

We stopped here overnight to take a break from driving, and it was wonderful! The people at the front desk were extremely helpful and very pleasant. The rooms were as clean as every other hotel out there. As other reviewers have said, it does give the feeling that it was once a higher quality place, but it still holds strong today with an amazing pool, an on site restaurant, and many amenities that other high quality hotels have (fitness room, sauna, hot tub, complimentary breakfast).

The only large complaint I have is the shower. The water in the morning is very unpredictable. If someone flushes a toilet in the building it gets hot, and if someone turns on hot water, it becomes cold.

At the moment, they are also in the middle of remodeling, but it is barley noticeable. If anything, this should indicate that the hotel will be even better in the near future.

If you can get past the yellow exterior color of the building, you will find that this hotel offers just as much, if not more, than other mainstream hotels.
