This was a quick overnight on our way south. We called ahead to let them know we'd be arriving late and didn't have any problems. All staff we encountered were friendly, including the legendary Dorothy, the breakfast lady. (One other couple actually got their picture taken with her! Too cute.)
I read about the "updated" rooms, but wasn't sure if we got one? Our second floor room (no elevator) had the same bedding as the picture, but we didn't have the nice paint job. The furniture had definitely seen its better days and was a bit too large for the size of the room, making it feel a bit cramped. The A/C unit was small and loud, seemed to be working overtime to keep the room cool. Our room was clean and comfortable enough, though, about what you'd expect in the $60 price range.
I don't know if they're in the process of remodeling the hallways (I hope so), but the 2nd floor had exposed pipes and ugly flourescent lighting...not too inviting. The breakfast area was nice and comfortable, breakfast is served in their restaurant/lounge. Good variety of choices: waffles, boiled eggs, cereals, breads, muffins, etc. We didn't use the pool, but it's advertised as "the largest in Albert Lea."
Overall, this place was OK for an overnight stop. I don't think I'd want to spend any length of time here until they do some remodeling though.
