Went to Auburn Hills for a concert at the Palace and stayed at Candlewood. The room was definately a good size for the price (it was bigger then I was expecting that's for sure), and besides the fact that my "non-smoking" suite REEKED of cigarettes, the room was clean.
The morning of my departure, I was woken up at 8:00am sharp when a housekeeper walked right into my room!! Considering that I didn't actually get in until after 2 that morning & that I'm the kind of person that can't seem to go back to sleep after I'm awake, I was pretty upset about this...and rightfully so! I mean, I spent a hundred dollars so I could get a good nights sleep, and a staff member of the hotel ruined that for me.
I went down to the front desk to complain about my uninvited wake-up call, and the manager on duty immeadeately snapped at me. She went off on a rant about how 80-something percent of their guests are out of their suites by 8am so it's the hotel's policy to go in the rooms at that time (mind you her tone and attitude not only upset me further, but left me feeling bullied). She could not seem to see a problem with having a housekeeper walk into an occupied suite. I can understand if this happened fifteen minutes before check-out time, but not four hours before. Not only did the manager do nothing to fix the problem, she also raised her voice at me, talked down to me, and made me feel like I'm crazy for suggesting that housekeepers shouldn't be walking into rooms where tired guests are trying to sleep before they wake up and drive five hours home in the morning!!!
I will absolutely, positively, NEVER stay at this hotel again.

It is never a good thing to have a guest leave our hotel unhappy. We have taken different measures to ensure that our leisure guests are not interrupted in the morning by our housekeeping staff. We have posted signs in our hotel that inform our guests of our housekeeping procedures ahead of time, and have made sure that all rooms have their "No Housekeeping" magnets on their doors to inform our housekeepers that they are still in the room. Also, please know that when our staff hears a complaint from a guest that is presented in a respectful manner, we will do all we can to remedy the situation and make sure our guests leave happy.
