“Better Than Expected!”

I got a great deal off of hotwire (23 bucks, total was 32 with taxes). After finding out the name of the hotel, came over to trip advisor and I was a little scared to stay here with the reviews (then again there has only been 1 review thus far in 2007).

All in all this place was just fine, I would say yes it is a 2 to 2 1/2 star hotel. Room was clean, had nice kitchenette with full size fridge, microwave, ect. Everything was clean, bathroom was fine. Carpet was dated but clean. Shower had really good water pressure (seems like in a lot of places you get the water saver shower head). Bed was ok, not great but doable, (pillow could have used some more fluff but I find this very common in 2 star places). Only thing that was kind of annoying was the airconditioning was a little loud.

Location was great 5 miles to Great Lakes Crossing Mall & The Palace, 10 miles to DTE Energy Music theater. When finding the hotel itself look close, it has a small sign on a frontage road and a little tricky to spot it.

For 23 bucks I can't complain at all, place must have gotten better since the older posted reveiews. For what we needed, a room for a night to crash after a concert, it was just fine.

  • Liked — Cheap! Kitchenette was nice, location perfect for concerts!
  • Disliked — Air conditioner a little noisy.

“Save Your Money-Don't Stay Here”

Upon arriving at the hotel, we were informed that our reserved room was not available, and so they put us in another room. The room was dirty, w/fast food leftovers/carryout bags left on the floor and beds were not clean. We moved again, had the wrong room key, went back down to get the right key becuz they would not come up to deliver it to us even though they gave us the wrong one, and this room smelled of smoke -we requested non-smoking due to our mother being diabetic and not able to sleep in smoking rooms. We went back down to the lobby, and we had to switch rooms a third time. When we went back to the new room again with all our belongings, it was dirty again and had a dog barking up a storm right across from us, and our mother couldn't sleep. So we went back down and they offered no apologies for any of the rooms, it was late and our mom needed somewhere clean and quiet to sleep. It was so bad, we left even though it was nightime already. We checked into another hotel down the street and it was so much better. I stayed at an Extended Stay in Cleveland and loved it. This one was horrible and we were shocked considering it was located near a popular area near the Palace where lots of events take place and attract visitors. PLEASE check out other hotels down this street, many others that are better.

  • Liked — close to the Palace
  • Disliked — Everything- horrible experience, rude inconsiderate satff

“Disgusted...”

Knowing that this is not even close to being a 2 star hotel, and having low expectations to begin with, my boyfriend and I had an absolutely horrible experience at this hotel. Checked in at 11pm (after a long day of shopping) and found hair, dead flys in the bathroom. The furniture, carpet and overall condition of the room was extremely tired, dirty and dated. We were tempted to check into another hotel after we entered the room but it was already late in the evening so we decided to stick it out for one night and check out the following morning. The walls/ceilings are extremely thin, couldn't sleep more than 2 hours straight as the person staying in the next room kept coughing, the air conditioner sounded like it was about to break down and the fridge kept humming like it too was on the brinks (and I'm a very heavy sleeper!). What topped it all off was that the hotel fire alarm went off at 6am due to someone burning their breakfast and we all had to wait outside of the hotel and wait for the fire truck to arrive and investigate. Never will I stay there again. Do yourself a big favour and spend the extra $20/night to stay somewhere else!

“Never again!”

We stayed here one night after a Pistons game and I would not recommend it to anyone. The hotel lobby is nice, but don't let it fool you! The halls were dirty, the carpets look like they haven't been cleaned in years and the walls were stained and grubby. Although the rooms are big, the headboard on one of the beds was broken, the carpets were filthy, the furniture looked like it came from a used furniture store, and there were dirty dished in the dish washer and the stove had dried food on it! No shampoo, and the heater smelled lkke something was burning when we turned the heat up a little.
I went down to the "continental breakfast" before the kids got up and they had no juice, were out of oatmeal, and there wasn't much except fruit---which was horrible. The breakfast was supposed to be available until 9:30, but when I took the kids down a little after 9, they had taken everything out except the coffee. There were broken raw eggs in the hall on the second floor where our rooms were, and they were still there when we checked out. The stairwells were full of overflowing trash cans, and smelled so bad we had to hold our breath!
We went next door to the Staybridge, and for the little extra it costs, it's an incredible difference. The staff was great, and they even offered to give us breakfast, even though we were just checking them out for our next trip down!! We were were given a tour, and the rooms are not only spacious, they are super-clean and beautiful!! They offered us a great price, which includes dinner and breakfast on week days! We made reservations!!

“Great value, great place to stay”

I stayed at the ExtendedStay America over the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend. Upon arrival, I was already impressed at the cleanliness of this hotel. The front service clerk was extremely friendly and nice, and check-in was a breeze.

The rooms itself are exactly as described on their website. They are spacious, clean, with a regular bathroom and a kitchenette (which includes a fridge, microwave and stove, but not an oven).

This hotel is located in Auburn Hills, a suburb of the metro Detroit area. There isn't much to do nearby, although there are numerous fast food restaurants around (Burger King, Taco Bell, etc.). However, most things are just a drive away. The Great Lakes Crossing Mall is about 10 minutes away, and the Somerset Collection mall is about 15 minutes away. Downtown Detroit is about 20-25 minutes away.

The only real "downfall" of this hotel is that it may be a little hard to find. The hotel is found in an industrial area, but the building itself is a little sunken in from the street. The signage is small, so you have to keep your eye out for it. It took us a second time around to find it! Otherwise, everything was great.

If I were back visiting in Auburn Hills , I would definitely stay at the ExtendedStay America again.
