“Total DUMP”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 April 2009

DO NOT STAT HERE! I had the unfortunate luck of my company pre-paying for a week's stay for me at this "hotel". So bad that I even left early on my last night & paid for another hotel on my own dime. Filthy rooms / uncomfortable beds / dirty bathrooms / stained carpets & walls. They don't even clean your rooms unless you request & "schedule" a cleaning multiple times & pay extra. Rude front desk staff is never even at the front desk. The place is more like a flop house. Vending machines didn't even work & that's your only source of food on site!. The TV wasn't working either & when I asked on my first night why I couldn't get any local channels to come in I was told "everyone at the hotel is having the same problem". Four days later it was still not working! Checking into the Hyatt PLace across the street was like walking into the Ritz Carlton! (& the huge plasma TV there got local channels just fine) I understand saving costs but this place was just ridiculous. Sleep in your car instead

“Pleasantly Surprised!”

Booked this hotel through Hotwire at a low price of $29.00 After the name of the hotel was revealed, I read the reviews on Tripadvisor and was, understandably leary!

Arriving at the hotel was a bit tricky as currently Doris Road is under construction. It has been temporarily made a one way street running from Opdike to Featherstone. You really do have to look for the hotel as the sign isn't easily seen, especially in the dark.

Upon booking, I called the hotel and requested a non smoking room with 2 beds. Check in at 10:15 pm was quick and efficient. Received the two bed non smoking room with no problems.

Be aware the Key card opperates a bit differently than the standard key card which normally slides in and out to release the door. This key card has holes in it and must be slid in all the way and left for a moment, turn the door handle and it will release. The card will also not work if it is upside down. The key card can then be removed when the door is opened. (This may be the answer to some of the previous posters comments that their keys did not work! )

Our room (105) was located on the first floor across from the coin laundry and vending machines. Even on a Friday night, we did not notice noise from the landry area. The room was clean. It was very convenient to have the kitchenette. It includes a toaster, stovetop, full frig, microwave, coffee maker (but no coffee) All appliances were clean. One packet of dish soap is there plus dishcloth and towel.

Bathroom was clean with sufficient towels. There are no toiletries and no haird ryer (although I read later on another website that they are available "on request."

We had a good sleep. The desk clerk, Brittaney was polite and thoughtful. Great customer service.

Carpets etc might be a bit dated, but it is a good place to stay, especially at the price I paid!! I would definitely return!

Walking distance to Tim Hortons and Wendys.

“dirty cheap hotel, over priced with nasty customer service”

I was stayed in this cheap terrible hotel on oct 2007 for 2 nights with my family. We were 4 ppl in the trip and booked 2 rooms. I was the one who booked the rooms through their website because I stayed with their other property before and they will email me a promotional code every week! This hotel is so dirty the carpet is not clean and the air conditioning is not working, due to the long trip in the day and the weather is not that hot so we were too tired to ask to change rooms. But the wall is so thin you can hear everything in the lounge and the next room, it was so noisy in the morning 7-10am from the ppl warking in the lounge we couldn't sleep until we wanted to. Remember we had booked for 2 nights we don't need to wake up so earily to check out! We tried to fly some eggs in the morning but the fan in the kitchen is FAKE, not a REAL fan with suck all the smoke outside of the room, the room was full of smoke that we had to stop cooking and opened all the windons and door. The kitchen was useless because you can't use it without a fan and there had NO REAL FAN. Finally we checked out on the 3rd morning when we looked at the bill they didn't give us a $20off for the promotional code we booked for, they keep saying that we didn't had the code when we were booked the rooms. Well! I received their email every week and book right through from that email with the promotional code but they refuse to give us. $20off is not a big deal when you were going on a vacation, the problem was the attitude of their stuff was so bad, his name is Frederick! The way he was EXPLAINING to us was so rude! You will know he was saying we were cheap to begging $20off. When we tell him that we could show him about the booking comformation email with the $20off promotional code he said their hotel didn't had a computer?!? what a joke!! A hotel didn't had a computer?!? I think his just making excuse to not giving us the discount! We argued with him in the lobby for 15 mins, because we still had plans we need to leave that hotel. When I got home I wrote a letter to the hotel to complaint about this, the other joke is their hotel manager reply me a letter saying that I had 3 people in the room and didn't charged us for the extra persons, we saved far more than $20?!? come on, we were 4 ppl but we had 2 rooms, where was the extra person?!? I reply the letter to them saying we didn't had extra person but they didn't reply to me again! So, DON'T STAY THIS HOTEL. THE HOTEL IS DIRTY , THE STUFF ARE RUDE AND FULL OF NONSENSE!

“Better Than Expected!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2007

I got a great deal off of hotwire (23 bucks, total was 32 with taxes). After finding out the name of the hotel, came over to trip advisor and I was a little scared to stay here with the reviews (then again there has only been 1 review thus far in 2007).

All in all this place was just fine, I would say yes it is a 2 to 2 1/2 star hotel. Room was clean, had nice kitchenette with full size fridge, microwave, ect. Everything was clean, bathroom was fine. Carpet was dated but clean. Shower had really good water pressure (seems like in a lot of places you get the water saver shower head). Bed was ok, not great but doable, (pillow could have used some more fluff but I find this very common in 2 star places). Only thing that was kind of annoying was the airconditioning was a little loud.

Location was great 5 miles to Great Lakes Crossing Mall & The Palace, 10 miles to DTE Energy Music theater. When finding the hotel itself look close, it has a small sign on a frontage road and a little tricky to spot it.

For 23 bucks I can't complain at all, place must have gotten better since the older posted reveiews. For what we needed, a room for a night to crash after a concert, it was just fine.

  • Liked — Cheap! Kitchenette was nice, location perfect for concerts!
  • Disliked — Air conditioner a little noisy.

“Save Your Money-Don't Stay Here”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 April 2007

Upon arriving at the hotel, we were informed that our reserved room was not available, and so they put us in another room. The room was dirty, w/fast food leftovers/carryout bags left on the floor and beds were not clean. We moved again, had the wrong room key, went back down to get the right key becuz they would not come up to deliver it to us even though they gave us the wrong one, and this room smelled of smoke -we requested non-smoking due to our mother being diabetic and not able to sleep in smoking rooms. We went back down to the lobby, and we had to switch rooms a third time. When we went back to the new room again with all our belongings, it was dirty again and had a dog barking up a storm right across from us, and our mother couldn't sleep. So we went back down and they offered no apologies for any of the rooms, it was late and our mom needed somewhere clean and quiet to sleep. It was so bad, we left even though it was nightime already. We checked into another hotel down the street and it was so much better. I stayed at an Extended Stay in Cleveland and loved it. This one was horrible and we were shocked considering it was located near a popular area near the Palace where lots of events take place and attract visitors. PLEASE check out other hotels down this street, many others that are better.

  • Liked — close to the Palace
  • Disliked — Everything- horrible experience, rude inconsiderate satff
