The room was spacious with frig, microwave, coffee pot, and hair dryer. The bed was clean with good pillows. Unfortunately that is were the clean stopped. The carpet in the room was dirty with a big stain outside the bathroom. The bathroom was dated with cultured marble sink that was stained The floor and bathtub was acceptable. The common areas were dirty with stained not vacuumed carpet. The carpeting along the walls and corners very dirty. There was food spilled in the elevator and gap between the elevator and hall and it was obvious it had been there for a long time. The breakfast area was dirty, the waffle maker was encrusted with baked on grime, the milk machine had sour milk and was covered with spilled dried milk, there was food spilled on the wall and the cabinets, the trash receptacles had dried spilled food and the floor was not vacuumed. In contrast there were good things about the facility, good business center, nice indoor pool, and the front desk was helpful. It was evident that this hotel had been a great facility with good common areas and facilities. I was sorrily disappointed and never expected a Wingate property to be in this poor condition.

Check in was smooth and easy; very friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable, but the television was not good at all...small, old style tube and color could not be adjusted. Heat throughout the hotel was also way too high - we had to turn on the AC to make the room tolerable. Heat/AC system was very loud. Pillows were lumpy.

Breakfast selection was good and well-stocked. Would consider staying again if some updates were made; but there are lots of choices nearby.

We travel quite a bit, and have been to many hotels and have seen it all.

This hotel is in a perfect location for shopping (Great Lakes Crossings Mall, Oakland Mall) as well as visiting The Palace at Auburn Hills. That said, it is a "tired" hotel. There are stains in the bottom of the sink bowls, and stains in the carpeting, but the saviors of this hotel has got to be the staff members! They are SO pleasant, helpful and always happy to see their patrons, coming and going! The gal who runs the breakfast room in the morning is the same: very accommodating, and always cheerful.
I don't know if we'd return to this hotel, as there are other options in the same area, but the price was great ($67/night)...I must say that as far as the bed, sheets, towels, and little soaps and shampoos etc go, they were all immaculate.
Don't hesitate to visit this hotel..the price is right for a family or tour group/sports team. I don't think it's somewhere that a couple who are seeking a romantic get-away would care for.

Did I mention the staff was WONDERFUL?! :)

Ive stayed in this location once before and had a great experience and this stay was pretty much the same, but I do have a few complaints and am writing a review here to possibly help this location improve.

I love the location of this hotel, very conveniently located closely to the places why I visit Auburn Hills to visit.. this hotel is very clean the rooms are clean and the staff are always very nice and accommodating. The only complaints I have are the shower head in our shower was getting a little grimy and I would suggest the hotel to possibly change them with newer heads every once in awhile..or buy heads that are easier to clean..and the biggest complaint: in the room we had when we pulled out the couch bed there was a very large blood stain on the mattress..with no sheets or extra blanket in the rooms... thankfully the other bed was a king so we had enough room on the bed for 3 of us..this to me is unacceptable and know the next time I do stay in this location to check and bring it to the attention of the staff who im sure will be willing to help us change rooms or fix the problem as soon as I check in.

With that said I will stay at the location again. you can not beat the price and with the few exceptions of above this hotel is actually very nice and accommodating.
