Considering that this motel was only $40 and garnered such bad reviews here, I was expecting the worst. I was going to stay at the Candlewood just a few feet away but they required a credit card on hold and I don't give out my credit card number if I am purchasing something in cash. So I bit the bullet and went to the Motel 6.
Yes, the motel is run down with giant potholes, crumbling sidewalks and peeling paint. Yes, the doorknob came off in my hand, the carpet hadn't been vacuumed in the corners and I left my socks on the entire time as a precaution. I'm sure the comforter was old, but don't we all just whip that thing off and throw it in the corner anyway?
The bathroom was spotless, the sheets & towels were clean and the mattress must have been new because it was level and springy. My room was missing the tv remote and the man at the frontdesk was friendly as he found me a replacement.
The cleaning lady I ran into the next morning was incredibly polite and the receptionist was very cheery when I turned in my keycard.
The motel was quiet, the staff was friendly & helpful, and the sheets/bed/bathroom was clean. For $40 in a major metropolitan area, I couldn't have asked for more and I will definitely stay here again next time I'm in town.
