“Good overall hotel for location....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2011

We recently spent one night at this Courtyard. We were attending an event at the Palace of Auburn Hills, and this location was very convenient. It is located only about 4 or 5 miles from the Palace, and you can get to the Palace without getting back on I-75.

This is your basic Courtyard. It was very clean. The lobby was bright and cheerful with its odd combination of colors. Lots of seating for groups or couples or individuals. Fire going in the fireplace. One computer in business center, they really need two, at least. There is a small market to buy candy, pop, snacks. The breakfast area looks very nice, but we didn't partake. Great exercise room! Several pieces of new or almost new equipment. Small indoor pool. Large parking lot. Check-in was prompt and courteous, helpful with directions. Check-out the same. Tim Horton's adjacent.

Our room was a third floor king room. Bathroom is to the left of the door. Sink outside of bathroom. Nice counters. Hair dryer. Opposite is a good storage area for luggage (a cabinet with doors). The counter here has the ice bucket/glasses and coffee pot. Bathroom is very large, excellent shower head, pressure and towels are of a good quality.

King bed is awesome. Very comfortable. Pillows-well, 5 of them, that is great-most were of down material-but were not very good. Linens are good as well as the blanket. Two small nightstands on each side of bed, one with phone and one with alarm clock. Each has a small drawer and an open space beneath. Two reading lights.

Nice, two seat loveseat/couch, which is also a pullout bed. Comfortable to sit on. Small coffee table. Large desk with a phone. Lamp with plugs. Rolling desk chair. Table pushed under desk, that can be pulled out for more desk space. 3 drawer dresser with flat screen TV on top. Nice size closet with several hangars, iron/board. All furniture matches and in good condition. Nice artwork considering, as well as the color scheme. Balcony doors open, but are old. They need replacing. Balcony is old and not really usable, though you can step outside on it, no room for chairs (if they even have them in season), and certainly cannot see over the cement balcony wall if you are able to sit. Drapes were nice, good black-out drapes in addition to sheers.

Everything worked-locks, plugs, lights, phone, TV, TV remote, hair dryer, coffee pot, water pressure, heater (it is a very finicky thermostat).

I would request a 3rd floor room (there are elevators) in the back of the hotel for quiet.

“Worth the money”

We booked 3 nights in this hotel for our regular Christmas shopping spree. Overall, the hotel is very clean and neat. The rooms are just the right size complete with all the amenities such as line internet connection instead of wireless (which is safe). The only complain I can state are the pillows. They are too soft. I requested for a firm pillow but the front desk said they don't have any. I was force to buy a pair of new pillows at nearby Costco and boy did I get a good night sleep. Coffee and tea are always available. Overall, a very satisfactory experience and will continue booking for Marriott hotels instead of Choice Hotels.

“As usual, an excellent stay at Courtyard, Auburn Hills.”

Whenever I travel to concerts at DTE Amptitheater or The Palace, I stay at this Courtyard location. I never have to wonder if the place will be clean or the service is good. It always is. Saving a few bucks down the road at a different hotel will never compensate for the good service and peace of mind of having a spotless room that I always get at this hotel. Oh yeah, the breakfast buffet is well worth it!

“Good to spend the night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2010

I stayed at this hotel for almost two weeks and overall I had a good experience. The room was spacious and had pretty much all you can expect for a business hotel. The garden area was really relaxing. I found some bugs one day, but not during the rest of my stay. The bed was really comfortable. If you like exercise, they have a well-equipped gym open 24/7 and during weekdays, you can go to the swimming pool without any problem. During weekends the atmosphere changes with lots of children going and coming which makes almost impossible to access the pool or whirlpool. The staff was really friendly and always helpful. The room was always clean when I returned from the office and this is the very first time I check-in to a hotel and I do not have to call maintenance during my stay. They also have a list of local restaurants with their street addresses so you just enter it on your GPS and you're set. It is very close to most restaurants on the area. Besides, for long stays, there is a laundry room in which with $3 you can wash and dry your clothes.
Now, the bad things about it: My room had still an old 29" TV Set and only 9 channels available. It's OK if they want to sell their PPV programs but the channels offered were not the best. The Internet Service, though it is free, is really slow. I had to wait for ages to download email on my computer. Finally, if you are traveling with a GPS--who isn't these days??-- you may have a clearer route if you select the Fairfield Inn Detroit. They are neighbors and the GPS map is more accurate. The hotel is located on Aileen Rd which is hidden. The best landscape of the entrance is Wendy's.
