“The price is right!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 December 2011

My wife and I stayed here for a few nights for a shopping trip in Michigan. The rates are great, and the bed is comfortable, and the location, although not much in the immediate vicinity, was central for a few places we wanted to go to north and south of the hotel. Lots of restaurants within a 10 minute drive.

Only a couple of complaints - we were in a room on the first floor, and I think it was right below a stairwell, so if you're a light sleeper then you might want to ask for another room - a couple of times I could hear people on the stairs. The other thing is, be careful at the continental breakfast - it's not clearly marked what is free and what isn't. I took an english muffin, and the next thing you know someone is showing up at my table with a bill for $2 because I didn't take normal bread. And it's hard to leave a tip on a bill for $2, especially since I made it myself!

I would still stay here again, just watch for those two things. The location and rates are hard to beat.

“Stayed many times, always a good experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the past few years when visiting family in the area. The staff has always been helpful and friendly. Rooms are always clean and we enjoy staying at this hotel.

The room rates are very low and we find it convenient to add breakfast when booking the room. Breakfast includes continental items, but also hot cereals, eggs and bacon.

A good example of the service standard in this hotel is when several years ago we checked into our room late at night and the non-smoking room reeked of cigarette smoke. We called the front desk and they quickly moved us to a new upgraded suite room with no questions asked.

My only complaint with the hotel (most likely the Marriott chain) is that their bed pillows are always awful. I usually bring my own pillow to solve this issue.
Thank you for a comfortable stay in Auburn Hills!

“Need that "Southern Hospitality"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

This hotel was ok but we needed internet connection and it just would not connect properly for some reason. Pleasant and courteous staff at front desk except in dining room.
We were always short of time and never had time for breakfast. I wanted to grab some fruits and I guess it was a place where some got free breakfast (including myself) and some not. I tried to get some fruit to go and lady in dining room said--"make sure you don't take anything else because you're not allowed..." I was going to say, I paid for this and I will take what I want....but too much in a hurry to respond. Hotel's a little old but good for the value. Clean rooms and pretty good location. Few minutes from malls. Just avoid the dining room and eat somewhere else--no need to start your day that way....

Room Tip: Rooms on first floor is great near exits by parking lot especially if you're a shopper!!

“Clean, comfortable, but hard to find!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

We stayed here recently while in town for a wedding. The group rate was amazingly low, which made it easier to overlook some of the things that were missing (like internet or complimentary breakfast).

Our first impression of this hotel wasn't great, namely because we couldn't find it! It sits back a way from the road and, other than a small sign, you would never know it was even there! Even with the address and GPS in hand, we drove past it several times before finally finding it.

When we did arrive, the staff was nice and we checked in quickly. The room was clean, but a little cozy. The bed was comfortable, though, and it was nice having a couch in the room to spread out on.

We had difficulties connecting to the wireless in our room and were told that it was likely due to the location of our room (one of the back corners of the property). Friends of ours who were also staying there said that they actually switched rooms in order to obtain wireless so that they could work.

The breakfast buffet looked good, but was, unfortunately, not included in our room rate. We opted to go out to eat up the road rather than pay for it at the hotel. For this type of property, I would have expected at least a minimal continental breakfast to be included with the room rate.

We might stay here again if we are in the area, but will probably consider other options in the neighborhood as well.

Room Tip: If wireless internet is important to you, be sure to request a room with a good signal when you chec...

“Comfortable bed, friendly staff, reasonable price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

When I'm on business, I generally stay at Hilton properties. American Express offered a $50.00 discount to stay at the Marriott so for a $50.00 discount I changed my hotel to this CY by Marriott. I enjoyed it enough that when I came back the following week, I just rebooked here. Erika the friendly front desk staff was helpful and pleasant. The room had a great HD TV, a good bed ( no bugs that i know of) and a convenient work desk space. In the lobby was a small but useful business center that i used to print up som documents for my meetings. Within walking distance is the Tim Hortons for coffee and breakfast. I'd stay here again and recommend the hotel.
