“Excellent Staff, Great Location--Slight Difficulties with Noise”

I stayed for one night on a quick trip to Ann Arbor, and the staff couldn't be better. The hotel is of the "Grand Old" variety, and I like it very much. The valets parking my car were polite, helpful, and efficient; the desk clerk was great and called my room to make sure everything was ok. The location is perfect for visiting my daughter, who's at the Law School. The buffet breakfast this morning was very nice, and the woman attending to it was helpful and friendly. My room was small, but clean and with a very small but refurbished bathroom.

The only downside? My next-door neighbors were not particularly noisy, but I could hear them as if they were in the same room. When my daughter met me at the hotel this morning and came up to my room, she, too, was surprised that we could easily hear the woman next door cough. I wonder if there is some way to add some soundproofing between those rooms where this is a problem. I'm not particularly fussy about sound, but this was quite pronounced. I will undoubtedly want to stay at the Bell Tower again, so perhaps there's something the management can do to solve this.

Room Tip: I think the next time I travel and stay at this hotel, I will ask if a room at the end of the hall m...

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. We noticed a noise problem with the few connecting rooms and have solved that but may need to look into a solution to this problem. Thanks for your review and sharing your thoughts about the staff and level of service you received.

Thanks again and I will most definitely look into solving this problem.

“Bell Tower is the best for U Mich events”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

I visited the Bell Tower Hotel for the preview of Philip Glass's "Einstein on the Beach" JAN 21st. The hotel was walking distance to everywhere on campus. It wasn't even too hard to get to/from the Amtrak station. All the local food and entertainment spots were right around the block. The hotel was quiet and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. I liked the HB eggs on the continental breakfast counter. But it came at price comparable to a big city hotel, which is why I can't rate it Excellent.

I am glad to hear that you were able to enjoy Einstein on the Beach. It was an absolutely fabulous performance. I hope your bottom was not as sore as mine after the performance but well worth it!
Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and we look forward to having you back if you return to Ann Arbor in the future.

“Great location, exceptional service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

As I'm sitting in the Bell Tower Hotel lobby, I thought that it was as good of a time as any to share my experience here.

The room was a little dated, but my room was very clean and comfortable. I slept very well; the shower was hot and had very good pressure - the key components of a good room, not to mention the flat panel TV, plenty of pillows and towels.

The service exceeded my expectations. Every person that I interacted with was professional, friendly and courteous – it seems that customer service is a standard that must be up held by everyone. We reserved the conference space for the day, and no matter who walked by, we were always offered help. Now I cannot say for sure, but the energy the employees exude, make it seem like this is even a great place to work.

And the location – wow! This is my first visit to Ann Arbor and I hope that it’s not the last. It’s a very cool town, with lots to do and the Bell Tower Hotel is a great location – walking distance to many places.

From other reviews, seems like there might be some renovations going on – although I can say, I didn’t see any dust nor did I hear any construction noise, so they must be doing a great job at keeping the distraction to a minimum.

With the service and location, the renovated rooms are going to make this a top notch place to stay in Ann Arbor – I hope to make it back again someday.

“Can't get any more convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

While visiting the University of Michigan, I wanted a hotel where I could park my car and walk. the Bell Tower fit that need with it's convenient location, right across from the Central Campus Bell Tower, no worries... it doesn't ring at night, and it's free valet parking.
The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Some of them are students at U of M, so they are more than happy to help you with any questions you may have about the campus. Sadly I didn't get the name of the friendly, hard working woman that was there during the free breakfast in the morning.
The down side to this hotel is that it really needs to be renovated. Not the rooms so much. The beds were quite comfortable. But the bathrooms look like they haven't been touched, except for cleaned, since 1968.
Having that said, if my son chooses U of M, this is where I will stay while visiting.

Thank you for your review. I am extremely happy to hear that our service was excellent. We really pride ourselves in the service we offer, not just our location. You are correct, we have redecorated our rooms but are in the midst of renovating the bathrooms. We completed half of the bathrooms and are going to complete the next phase this year.

We are mocking up amenities like in-floor heating, foot warmers under the counters, towel warmers and even televisions in the mirrors.

Again, thank you and best of luck to your son and his decision!
