“In one word, perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2010

I can't recommend this guesthouse highly enough. Vina del Mar is a beautiful city and this is the perfect place to enjoy it from. Gisele and Carlos are exceptionally lovely. Their home is warm and welcoming as well as safe and secure. It's in a nice neighbourhood that's close enough to walk to the city centre but removed enough to offer peace and quiet. And if you're at the point of your journey where you could stand a day or two of just kicking back, they have a pool and back yard to lounge in. You'll find your hosts very friendly and helpful with great tips on where to go and what to do. Breakfast is included and trust me, it will hands-down be the best you've had. Excellent all around.

“Great place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2010

I stayed here in July 2010 for about 3 weeks. Gisela and Carlos are very accommodating and friendly. I arrived very late (1am) and they were both waiting at the front gate to greet me, give me a quick walk-through, and show me to my room. The room was small, but nice with a bunk bed, a wardrobe, and a night table. There was a bathroom on my floor, which was almost exclusively mine (except when other guests occupied a room on the same floor) which was really nice. The shower was under the stairwell, meaning that the ceiling was slanted and I had to stand toward the very edge of the shower in order to be able to stand up straight (I'm 5'8" tall). Breakfast was served at 9:30 every morning - perfect for me because I got to sleep in a little bit! And it was absolutely delicious: fresh fruits from Gisela and Carlos' farm, oatmeal, yogurt, crepes, bread, coffee, tea, juice, and more. My room and bathroom were cleaned every day around noon. The location is really good. It's on a very steep hill, but right off a main road and about a 10 minute walk from the center of Viña. I never felt unsafe - not only is it a safe neighborhood, but the house itself has locked gate surrounding it. Wireless internet was also available and worked about 90% of the time.
What I liked best: the ample breakfast, Gisela and Carlos' willingness to help, the location.
What I liked the least: the shower, the thin walls (I could hear every word of a conversation in the next room even with the doors and windows shut)
I would definitely stay here again!

“Worth the walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2010

Gisela & Carlos house is a little way from the main streets and beach in Vina, but it's a good walk and it's very safe.

They were warm and welcoming and even sung happy birthday to me on my b'day! The place is small, but cosy and quiet and clean. It has a pool, which is great to cool down in after walking up the hill. Breakfast was delcious, although it's exactly the same everyday.

As a female travelling solo, this is a great place to stay. Gisela and Carols were so lovely and accommodating.

“Cozy Home Away From Home”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2010

Gisela and Carlos House was comfortable and welcoming and a real highlight of our trip. The bedrooms were spotless, if tiny, with comfy bedding and lots of storage space. The best part, however, was the great service provided by Gisela and Carlos and their family. They couldn't have been more warm or thoughtful and made sure we felt at home. They gave us good advice on things to see and on how to get around the area.
Make sure to save lots of room for the delicious and hearty breakfast - so much better than any other place we stayed in South America!

“welcoming and safe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2009

A safe haven for a family or single traveller. We were travelling as a family with kids ages 7,11 and 12 years.Very quiet only 12 minutes walk to shops/bus stop/underground and about 20 min walk to beach.
Welcoming hosts. There is a separate part to the host house where you stay and this has 4 rooms. We had 3 of the rooms and a single Swiss chap had the other room. He shared the bathroom with our boys and we shared dining room and breakfast which you can see was enough to feed twice as many people!
The pool and table tennis table kept the kids happy on our down time days. They weren't stuck in a highrise hotel with nothing to do. Recommended++
