We stayed with Alan and Valerie for 4 nights. We are a family with two boys aged 6 and 8 years, so we were in their family room. We enjoyed the spaciness cleanliness of the bedroom and the bathroom.
Every day the bed was made by the Sri Lankan maid, we got a fresh bottle of drinking water and the bathroom was cleaned. Perfect. I enjoyed being able to make my own cup of Nescafe with the water boiler in the room.
There is free wireless internet in the house which I used extensively in the evening to plan our sightseeing the next day and find the best bargains with tour companies and opening hours of attractions.
Alan and Valerie are very hospitable and service minded. We needed to go to the near by Mall of the Emirates a couple of times and they offered us rides there in their own car.
We did not have a rental car, so we were dependent on taxis which is a cheap means of transportation in Dubai. However, if I come back to Dubai I will probably rent a car to make things a little easier. Because Dubai Haven is in a residential area there are no restaurants and places for grocery shopping within walking distance. Also, I find the driving style in Dubai "relaxed" so I would not fear driving there myself.
Dubai Haven can be difficult to find even for taxi drivers, so you should ask Alan and Valerie for their description of how to reach the place if they do not offer it to you.
While in Dubai, remember to go on a Jeep Safari. We used http://opdubai.com which I found to be a good price and the service was excellent.
