I stayed in the Lotus Grand Hotel for almost two weeks to work in Dubai.
I was in a "single" apartment, nevertheless the rooms are very big, with separate bedrooms, kitches, big living rooms, even two bathrooms and two TV's.
My first room was on on the first floor with practically no daylight at all and no mobile phone reception so I changed for a room on the 5th floor. Still very little daylight even in this room, all single rooms have their windows to a very small courtyard and I felt a bit locked in.
It's difficult to explain, the rooms are clean & big, staff is nice, but I have hardly ever felt so little home in Hotel room where I stayed longer, the room is almost clinical in a way. This is of course my personal opinion, other people may not mind.
Air condition works fine but I actually got headaches from the cold air blowing over my neck in the night.
The "broadband" Internet in the room is ridiculously priced too high, and the bandwith is more like a phone line from the old days. I pad AED 375 for a week which is over 70 Euros--I had no choice but I felt ripped off.
And last not least, the breakfast doesn't deserve this name. Ok, if you like fried potato wedges, bacon and beans for breakfast, fine; but if you prefer european-style bread & cheese it is no fun at all. Croissants are a bit like from the day before, no real bread, not even "brötchen" or rolls, only one or two choices of cheese and those were anything but great. I decided to make my own coffee in the room. Juices are mostly not juices but water mixed with sugar and some flavour.
All in all, this hotel may be an acceptable and clean accomodation--but the subjective comfort factor is pretty low in my opinion. Unfortunately I will have to come back here again to work--I am anything but looking forward to that.
