“Older, threadbare but safe”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

Got a great deal so we stayed there a week. Not in the center of anything--long way or short cab ride to town. There is a restaurant onsite but I didn't try it. Had to beg for towels but the kitchen is equipped with a plates, cups, silverware and even a cutting board. You get a refrigerator and a microwave but both can't be plugged in at the same time.

Stay if you get a deal and don't plan on doing anything but sleeping in your room. Television channel selection is minimal.

If you are the tolerant sort, you will be okay here--if not ;pass it by. More of a place for students and the traveler who spends money on other things than rooming.

Room Tip: Check online for a deal--never pay full price here

“A very friendly, pleasent, convinent, comfortable & safe hotel!”

This was my 2nd time at Jordmand as the year before I really enjoyed my stay there. Its not only cheap but has all facilites such as gym, pool, sauna, jacuzzy, restaurant ect.. The staff were great really friendly & polite also very helpful. My apartment was an excutive studio, fully equiped kitchen, breakfast bar & balcony. This hotel is great as you can save a lot of money on meals as you have a kitchen and supermarket 2 to 3 minutes walk that sells everything. I recomend this hotel to stay in whether your a couple, family or friends as its peaceful, convienent & safe!

“you get what you pay for”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2011

Jormand hotel apartment is budget price hotel apartment.
have you heard the quote you get what you pay for,
Hotel Jormand had loads of extras,
A noise air conditioning unit that was to loud to have on if you wanted to sleep
A smell that made you want to open the window in the searing heat
A ripped couch so you could see the springs
and stains on the walls of the shower
overall the highlights were breakfast and leaving
we talked to the staff and nothing was done,
glad it was only for 2 nights

“Avoid this one”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 February 2011

Of all the budget hotels and hostels we’ve visited in the Middle East, Europe and Latin America (Brazil), this was far the dirtiest. Echoing a number of other evaluations on this hotel, the staff did not seem too enthusiastic about their work and usually attended our requests regarding missing or non-functional items only after asked twice. Nevertheless, that was little compared to the appalling level of hygiene.

Upon arrival, we were given a room that smelled strongly of tar. After trying everything (air conditioning high, air conditioning off, window open, window closed), the smell still persisted. Luckily another similar room (minus the smell) was available. Looked at from a distance everything seemed ok, but a closer look revealed a room with which one preferred to be in as little physical contact as possible (luckily the sheets at least were clean… well, except on the last day when our bed had one white and one grey-toned pillow cover...).

Among the most disgusting items were:
- A desk chair/bench that looked like it had gone through a series of high school parties involving large quantities of alcohol and greasy fast food (see photo);
- A kitchen bin that seemed to have suffered the same fate (see photo);
- A kitchen so dirty it was as good as no kitchen (see photo);
- Blood stains(!!!) on the bathroom wall;
- Towels with grey stains (not just on one but several days – see photo); and
- A bathtub with stains of all shades of grey and brown (see photo).

Quite tragicomically, during our 5-day stay, not once did we have a full set of towels in our bathroom when returning to the hotel in the evening, our theory being that the hotel has not bothered to buy enough towels for all the rooms.

The price is cheap, 50 euros/night with taxes, but definitely not worth the pain. There are plenty of equally priced and better hotels in Dubai (check e.g. Dream Palace Hotel in Deira).

In an attempt to write something positive, the Internet connection was ok and reasonably priced (compared to many other hotels) at 45 Dh/24 h and 200 Dh/5 days. The room had a washing machine and a rather clean fridge/freezer, and… well… you get a TV set with four fully-functioning channels! And free parking, yay...

Located in good area. However service is not so good. Also internet is not good which is main drawback for business travellers
