Went to Dubai for New Years with family. Read the reviews on Trip ADvisor & chose this hotel even tho it was expensive. didnt get booking for first 2 days so stayed at Holiday Inn Express Jumeira (see review) & then shifted to this hotel wher we spent 6 days.
From the time we entered the foyer, we knew it was a mistake changing hotels! The ambience was very local, not like an international hotel chain. We reached at about 1.30pm. We had booked a 2 bedroom executive suite. They said the room was not ready but would be in 10 mins, so we waited in the foyer. The 10 mins lengthened to 2 hours & finally they said our room would get ready only at 7pm (official check in time is 2pm) so instead they gave us a 1 bedroom apartment for the time being. we took it to avoid wasting time. even when we got back at 7.30 pm the room was still not ready & we had to wait till 8.30pm to finally get a half cleaned room. (when we requested a late checkout time they said our "recorded" check in time was 3pm & so we wud be charged for the late checkout. we had to remind them of the sequence of events before they agreed)
even after getting the room, service didnot improve. the washing machine & dryer didnt work. there was no ironing board, no tea-coffee maker, the television had only 5 local channels, no dvd player as mentioned on website (http://www.symphonyhotels.ae/facilities.html). The only 2 good things were the location of the hotel & size of the apartment. Kitchen was ok, but vessels were a lil less. Main problem was hygiene. We washed all the vessels ourselves since they all looked dirty. even the bathrooms were not too clean. the curtain rod in the shower kept fallin on our heads!
most disappointing was the breakfast however. the website clearly mentions multi cuisine buffet incl pastries, salad & sandwiches. The actual spread was pathetic. only cornflakes (not even a choice between 2-3 cereals), tea & coffee (sugar was lying open, who knows how hygienic it was) some cut fruit (unceremoniously dumped in a plate), white & brown bread slices, 2 non vegetarian dishes (chicken & boiled egg) and 2 vegetarian dishes (roasted peas/boiled corn/parathas with potatoes) the food looked & smelt awful & the first 2 days we did not even touch it.
My list of complaints can go on & on... but this is the general gist. Avoid Symphony to have a good holiday!

Dear Guest, Thank you for your feedback we have read all your comments and all your issues were taken into consideration.
The hotel is situated in Old Dubai close to historic museum and local shopping facilities. You find the hotel apartments local because you are comparing the façade to an international hotel. I agree that the check-in time is 2 p.m. but unfortunately for some reason the previous guest did not vacate the room intended for you on time, so we decided to give you a temporary room for you to freshen up.
The washing machine and dryer are working. The ironing board is available upon request. We have variety of channels to cover for all guests and I am surprised that you only found 5. Your vessels were washed prior to your check-in.
Your breakfast concerns were forwarded to the F&B dept and they are currently expanding the buffet menu and have already added extra items.
Both myself and the staff at Symphony strive to provide the highest level of service to our guests. While we do not necessarily agree with all of your criticisms we do understand and agree that you endured inconveniences during your stay and for that we are truly apologetic. We would like to invite you back to our hotel preferential in your next stay to Dubai so we can make your stay pleasurable.
