“Cute almost boutique hotel with disastrous guest service. Avoid”
Upon arrival at the guest house, which is situated in the old quarter of Dubai, my wife and I were told that we had no reservations for our projected 3 day stay. We had our hotel in Muscat call this establishment on the basis of a guide book recommendation. We furnished the manager the confirmation number, the time and date of reservation, the name of the reservation clerk, the price of the room and the fact that our visa number had been accepted. We were finally given a room. After resting, we deposited the key at the f ront desk as requested, and were told we had to leave the room. We protested and were allowed to stay. After the second day, we asked if we could stay on another night as our flight arrangements had been changed to a red eye special. The manager replied 'no problem' - that they had plenty of rooms. The following morning after breakfast, we were told that we would have to vacate the room. Upon inquiry and protest, the manager stated that a last minute group had booked the hotel and therefore, we were kicked out. She said that she would try to find us another room in the area later in the day. When we returned from sightseeing, no hotel had been secured. We were told we could stay in the lounge area with our luggage. I requested to stay in the room until it needed to be cleaned. After the knock on our door, my wife and I, both senior citizens, struggled with our luggage through the narrow corridors up and down steps to the lounge, as the staff watched. At 11:00 p.m.,that evening, the night manager watched as we struggled with our luggage and were informed that we could simply walk the block through the narrow old town alleys and would be able to find a taxi at that hour on our own. This small hotel of 10 rooms has great promise but under present management and staff attitude, I would have to rate it 0 stars. Traveler Beware.
