“Heaven in the desert.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2012

We spent three nights here in October with our 8 month old son. It was really hot, but the staff brought cold flannels, ice lollys and fruit skewers to you by the pool, and the pools were fantastic - three of them (one for children) all with shaded areas, varying depths and water features. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel is beautiful, especially at night when the corridors and courtyards are lit by lanterns. The buffet breakfast is good, and the food at the other restaurants is good too (we didn't try the arabian village restaurant in the desert because of our son). There are camels rides (extra cost) and a falcon show at dusk. If you are looking for somewhere to spend a few relaxing days, this is the place!

Room Tip: ask for a room with a terrace/balcony overlooking the gardens and with a sofa area, not all of the t...

Pool area was very relaxing but I was seriously disappointed with the rooms. Looked outdated with cracks everywhere. Place needs an update in certain areas.

“Authentic Emirates”

One evening we drove out of Dubai into the sunset for what we were told was a fine dining experience. This was an understatement. Bab Al Shams is an oasis in the middle of the desert. The hotel is five star and majestic. The dining experience was extraordinary with local fare so fresh and tasty, it was the best meal we had during our four day stay in the Emirates. After dinner we sat under the stars for tea and shi-shas. You have to experience this if you are in this part of the world.

“Excellent mini break away”

Me, my husband and two girls aged 6 and 9 stayed at this resort over the weekend 3rd feb 2012. As soon as we arrived we were greeted and made to feel very welcome. My girls were given soft camel toys and dates. Checking in was very smooth although we arrived at 11am our room was not ready until 3pm ( this was not a problem as we intended on lazing by the pool anyway). We made use of the sun loungers and the girls were happy to play in the pool and use the kids club. One pool was freezing but the family pool was lovely and warm. At. Night we ate in the pizza restaurant which was very nice and we ate in the buffet retaurant for breakfast, both were made cheaper by using the Dubai entertainer buy one get one free vouchers! We had booked two rooms as our daughters were too old to be sharing our room. We had one main door then both rooms came off a small area so were interconnecting. The rooms were very spacious and our daughters room had a balcony. We cannot wait to go back again!

“loved it , again”

This was our 3rd stay here and again it did not disappoint.
Thanks very much to Thomas for allowing us to change rooms to get a desert view. This meant we could sit in our little garden and watch the Bee Eater catching its food.
The gardens , grounds, pool and general ambience of the property made it really relaxing .The general service from all staff was excellent and the food really good, especially the Indian restaurant. We also enjoyed having pasta dishes added to the pizza restaurant menu.
For us the weather was perfect , clear blue skies and temperatures in( I think )the mid 20's.The clear sky made the evenings in the rooftop bar really special. It was really enjoyable to look through the telescope and see planets such as jupiter.
I really recommend this for a relaxing break in the sun.
The only slight negative is the cost of food and drink for people on holiday, rather than dubai residents, it is very expensive. The quality of the food and drink was faultless but means a substantial addition to your hotel room rate.
