We spent three nights here in October with our 8 month old son. It was really hot, but the staff brought cold flannels, ice lollys and fruit skewers to you by the pool, and the pools were fantastic - three of them (one for children) all with shaded areas, varying depths and water features. The staff were friendly and helpful and the hotel is beautiful, especially at night when the corridors and courtyards are lit by lanterns. The buffet breakfast is good, and the food at the other restaurants is good too (we didn't try the arabian village restaurant in the desert because of our son). There are camels rides (extra cost) and a falcon show at dusk. If you are looking for somewhere to spend a few relaxing days, this is the place!
