“Looking Tired!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

This is not your usual Dubia 4/5 star hotel but the equivalent of a 2 star B&B in the middle of Meena Bazaar. At over £60 per room per night this is not a 'cheap' hotel.

Booked a balcony room but was given a room without a window on the first night but this was changed after I threatened to check out the following morning.

Balcony Room is large but views aren't that great. Bathroom was smelly through-out even with the extract fan being constantly on. Everything was corroded. Shower was hot and powerful. Had to ask for hand and bath towels every night!

Breakfast was adequate - toast, corn flakes, juice, omelette made to order, melon and 2 different hot local dishes everyday. Staff were very accommodating.

Hotel is centrally located for the metro, shopping malls, jewellery and other shops, restaurants etc. Would recommend - Rangoli, Sarpino's and Bhavana restaurants as they are within walking distance of hotel.

Finally, I would only use this hotel again if Sun City, Dolphin or the York international were all full!

Room Tip: Ask for a Balcony Room and get this confirmed in writing!

“Not so good-not so bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Somehow it is a normal hotel. Not so much in distance from Bar-dubai bus stand or Gubahib metro station. Price is slightly high. Room service is as usual.Nothing special. When You really need room( specially at festival time - like EID) you can stay. Cleanness is okk.

Excellent location in historic Bur Dubai, close to the Dubai Museum and Bastikia Quarter. Hotel and surrounding area are very "Indian".....Indian restaurants, clothing and jewelry stores, etc

“Great Location in Traditional Dubai”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2010

Stayed here for 2 nights for a stopover enroute to Australia.
We just wanted a cheap option to experience the sights of Dubai without paying the extreme prices of hotels in the Jumeirah Beach area. The Dubai Nova Hotel was perfect for this, clean and comfortable and in a fantastic location just a few minutes walk from souks and the creek, where you can catch an Abra (traditional arabic boat) across to the Gold and Spice Souks, 1 UAE Dirham - approx £0.17p. Also a stones throw from the Dubai Museum which is worth a look.
The breakfast caters for the middle eastern market, if you want English food, stay in England!!!!!
In the evening the area around the hotel really came to life will the locals. The mosque is nearby and the sound of the worship carries down the streets, and you know you are in the real/traditional part of the city.
We pre booked a couple of excursions before we travelled and were picked up and dropped off at the hotel with no problems. The Desert Safari is a must, and the Dhow Cruise is a great way to relax with diner in the evening.
A taxi to the public Jumeirah Beach will set you back about 40 UAE Dirham - approx £7 each way.
I would recommend this hotel for a stopover, however if you are staying longer, perhaps on a holiday in Duabi, then you may want to look at alternatives.

“Decent and affordable hotel in an expensive city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2009

I researched extensively for my middle eastern trip and found accomodation in Dubai to be quite pricey in general - there is no such thing as a cheap hotel or hostel in this city. Dubai Nova is one of the few relatively affordable and decent (no noisy/sleazy nightclubs) hotels in a well located part of Dubai - still on the 'Bur Dubai' side but close to the Deira side, near the famous souks and just around the corner from Dubai museum which is worth a visit whilst in Dubai. The room was clean and adequate with satellite TV.
