We stayed at the Dubai Grand for 3 nights. The rooms are spacious and well maintained. The housekeeping staff was very helpful and responsive. The hotel has a North Indian restaurant and a South Indian restaurant. The Dhaba which is the North India restaurant has a good variety of dishes. They also have authentic live Punjabi Bhangra, Gidda and ghazals though the decibel levels are too high and it is very difficult to talk in the restaurant. The South Indian restaurant Nalluketu has a good non veg variety though there are hardly any vegetarian options. the decor of the restaurant is a little too dark and drab though.
The hotel has about 13 joints inclusive of restaurants, pubs, coffee shops and night clubs. The hotel is near Sharjah which will be pretty far from most of the sight seeing and shopping options. The Deira City center is the nearest mall and the trip by taxi would cost about 25 Dh each way.
The only flip side to the hotel is the front desk. They are not very responsive nor efficient. Bell boys are understaffed. We had to wait for 45 minutes for our luggage to be brought from the cloak room. So if you check out early and plan to pick up your luggage later buffer in at least an hour to deal with the hotel staff.
