“My bracelet got stolen”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 May 2011

I stayed at the hotel for 5 days, it was ok as i did not spend much time in the hotel. i had a gold bracelet in my bags of which got stolen,. i reported it in the morning at the front desk, they told me to wait...i sat for about 15 mins with no responce i told them i am going to have breakfast they shud call me if they need me..i had my breakfast and went back to the reception i asked what was happening they told me they have called the cleaner who was on duty the day before, i asked them what time will he come..they didnt know so i kept waiting with no time frame. unfortunately i was scheduled to go to Al-ain hence i told them should i leave a contact number so that they can call me, the lady said its on they will sort it out. I LEFT..i called back at around 6pm only to be told that they asked the guy and he said he didnt take it....i mean wud a thief say yes i took it???

i realise that i am was not supposed to leave "valuables"" in my room but dubai is known for the safety! i was soo dissapoinnted on how management handled it, i got back to the hotel very late, i met the night manager who didnt have a clue of what had happened he just said it was up to me if i want to call the police???
honestly the hotel shud have better ways of handling these issues....
Bottom line, iwas very dissapointed with the hotel, i will not recommend it nor stay there again

“Value for Deira stay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2011

Landmark is ideal for the trader who has to be in the deira market area. You can walk from place to place and a good choice of eating area around. Golden fork, KFC, Mac donalds are all in the vicinity of the hotel opening till the 2am or more. the down side was the fact that there was no internet service in the rooms.

Dear Solo40Nigeria

Firstly, I would like to thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience with us on your visit to our Landmark Plaza Hotel in Dubai in April 2011.

I am very pleased you had a great stay in our Hotel and you were very happy with our bedrooms and that great service that was provided by our team.

Yes you are correct, we are have many of our business guest stay with us due to our fantastic location which is in easy reach of all the traders shops, restaurants and malls as well as our brand new metro station which is being built 1 minute walk away from our hotel, and in fact the new roads were opened on the 12 August 2010 which allows for much better access to the area, which is fantastic news for all. As you know we are located in the heart of Dubai in Baniyas Square and as you stated there are lots of great little shops and restaurants in the vicinity.

Thank you for your comment regarding the internet in the rooms, this is something we are looking into and we are hoping to have this rectified in the very near future.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Landmark Plaza Hotel in the very near future.

Kind Regards

Mark Gillings

“A worthless Hotel in Dubai is "Landmark Plaza"”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2011

Since 20 days continuously I was sending email to Landmark Plaza hotel's email address for booking a room for our GM & his family members from 07 May to 14 May 2011 and nobody respond to my mail. A hotel with lack of information technology considered to be worthless. I was sending emails from my email address ismilewhenyousmile@gmail.com to lanplaza@emirates.net.ae (hotel's official email as shown in their website).
Also I called hotel & a female with Indian accent answer my phone & I requested her to reply my mail, and she promised to reply ASAP. Since then till today I didnt receive any reply from them so far. Should I still recommend this hotel as good one?

“I did not feel safe, hotel smells”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2010

On transit between KL to Milan so stayed 1 night at hote Plaza in Dubai as recommended by Emirates. I couldnt stand the thick smell from the reception to my room and the lift lobby on my room floor. Had a call in the middle of the night from reception and someone came to knock on my door in the middle of the night. Hotel staff advised me to change around Euro40 for meals and buying water etc. Perhaps they were expecting me to go to a classy restuarant as the shawarma outside cost like 4 Dirham (like 1 Euro!). There was english reruns on TV though. Area at night was just very crowded and full of people.

Dear Suetz

I was concerned to read your comments with regard to your recent stay at our Landmark Plaza Hotel with regards to you not feeling safe and the smell from the reception area to your corridor.

Firstly let me apologize to you that you did not have the most enjoyable stay over. I have investigated for the smell but unfortunately could not find anything that matched your comments.

You mentioned that at night the area is very crowded and full of people, Baniyas square (formerly known as Nasser Square) is the business hub of Dubai, with fantastic shops, restaurants and night life.

Let me assure you that regarding security in our hotel, this is a priority for us and we always assure our guests the utmost security, if you felt unsecure, I apologize but I can assure you at no time was it unsafe.

With regard to the changing of money, we can only recommend an amount, I am sure my reception team assumed you might want to purchase food, drinks and maybe a few gifts for home.

Once again allow me to apologize and I do hope you may try the Landmark Hotel Group in the future.

Regards

“great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2010

We stayed here at the end of October. The weather was not too hot and we could walk to the gold and spice souk - about 15 mins. The hotel was easy to find and always taxis passing outside to take you to the attractions. The square outside is being turned into a metro station - bit noisy but we weren't there much during the day. Great when it is finished.

Rooms were big and clean. Staff friendly and helpful. Got a very early check-in which I asked for by email. Breakfast was plentiful and for everyone's tastes. The reception will book you a safari if you want. Good value. Older hotel but in good shape. Lots of Russians and signs in Russian around the place. Good if you want fur coats!

Lots of cheap shops in the vicinity. After dark the pavements turn into little restaurants and you can eat cheap and tasty souvlaki style meals. English menus too. Try the fresh juices. There are juice bars every where and juices are on all the menus. Juiced right there in front of you. A whole coconut is really cheap.

Loved Dubai at this time of the year. Dubai mall has great shopping - some expensive. Go down to the food hall - and book at least one day ahead for the worlds tallest building.

5 minute walk from the hotel to the 'Creek' and a boat across. You'll be asked if you want a cruise as well. Go, but make sure of the price. If you want to get to the gold and spice souk from the hotel go down to the creek and walk along there, following the road signs for the souks then go into the back streets.

Easy to get lost but easy to find a way back!!! Mosques in the area, and lots of local life!!!
The hotel does advertise 2 restaurants but only one was open but this was fine. We had one midday meal there - another buffet and lots to choose from and very economical.
