Good things first: the Club level at this hotel is just superb. Stay there if possible. The Club Lounge has wonderful, hospitable staff and very good food. It is a lovely place to hang out and recover after a day out sightseeing in Dubai. The rooms at this level are certainly in the five-star category and our two-night stay was very enjoyable.
Not-So-Good Things: At check-in, we dealt with a very unfriendly person who was adamant about an extra charge (120 dirhams, or about $35 plus 16% taxes) for a rollaway bed for the 11-year old traveling with us. Our reservations were explicitly for four adults and one child and I had assumed that our full prepayment included all members of our party. We asked to speak to the manager and he assured us that this was "standard policy" for all hotels in the region and he wouldn't budge on the extra charge. In fact, our party of five stayed at a total of eight hotels in the region during a 3-1/2 week tour and the Sheraton Deira was the ONLY hotel that charged us extra for a rollaway bed. It was more the hostile attitude of the front desk, rather than the extra money, that upset us.
My daughter, traveling with us, is the General Manager of a high-end hotel on the beach in California. She has always told me that the way you are treated by the front desk staff at check-in will remain as your lasting impression of a hotel. This experience certainly proved her right.
Please note, also, that while the hotel description says that it is "centrally located", in fact it is not within walking distance of any Dubai attraction and you need a cab to get to the Creek, any shopping area, or basically anywhere else you might want to go in Dubai.
