I visited the Dusit Thani Dubai for two nights along with my wife and three years daughter.
I booked a Grand room, upon check-in the room was not ready and we were accommodated in their business lounge, although the Grand room have access to the lounge but kids are not allowed in! I have been to hotels like the Fairmont and the Sofitel and they allowed kids in. Pretty dump.
It did not take long until the room was ready. We came before the check-in time by 2 hours and the room was ready before check in time to be fair. The room was very spacious and the hotel seems to take good care of its room although the hotel opened more than approx. 10 years back the furnishings looked intact but shows signs of age and needs to be refurbished.
There was a big sitting room and a desk, in the bedroom there was big Thai bed along with a bed canopy with lots of storage space, the bathroom is a typical five star one with a bathtub, separates shower cubicle with all its marble trimmings. The room was not properly sound proofed I could hear doors opening and closing all night, I was on the 26th floor.
There was free WIFI, and two TVs, one in the bedroom and another in the living room. The hotel seemed to cater more for business more than leisure travellers.
Breakfast was included in our rate and was a total disaster; waiters were overwhelmed and non existent. The Californian where breakfast was server was too small to accommodate, we were sit in an extension of their Thai restaurant. The buffet itself was big and plentiful but the quality of the food was not to par of the hotel, tea was served cold, empty plates not removed!
There were shuttles to/ from Dubai mall, the metro was walk able, we used it to go to Mall of the Emirates, a return Gold Class ticket is 10 dirhams.

Dear Mulla,
Thank you for your recent tripadvisor review. Thank you for also choosing to stay at Dusit Thani Dubai. I am sorry your room was not ready on your arrival, but due to very high occupancy over the last 2 weeks, we found it difficult to assign rooms for early arrival guests.
Generally, the club lounge is for guests over 12 years old, the reason is, it is primarily being used for business networking and serves alcohol in the evening. Those guests who book Grand rooms unfortunately cannot take their children in the club lounge, but we are happy to provide cookies and soft drinks from the lounge to the room.
I welcome your comments on breakfast and it is apparent from your feedback it was very busy during your stay. Your comments on service are valid and I am sincerely sorry on this occasion we fail to deliver. I will be sitting today to discuss the matter with our F&B manager and newly appointed Executive Chef and assure you this will be resolve for future guests. You will see positive changes on your next visit to the hotel.
Kind Regards,
James Wilson
