“Disappointed - as this could be a great hotel”

This hotel would be great if there had not been so many 'working women' so obviously in the hotel bar areas. Stayed here for three nights - this was really noticeable. Very off-putting. Other guests I chatted to had noticed it as well.

In the hotel's favour - the staff were attentive and professional. The room was comfortable and the bed comfortable - although the decor looks a bit tired these days.

The breakfasts are really good. Great choice of food for all tastes and served by attentive staff - I really liked the camel's milk on offer!

“A good old fashioned hotle”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

Overlooking the Creek, This hotel is one of if not THE oldest "nice" hotel in Dubai.

Cons :
The location speaks for itself, it is on the creek, therefore, a bit off modern Dubai, you are 30 min taxi away from most attractions.
The rooms are nice (I was in their upper club or whatever the name is) rooms, up on top, giving access to the lounge tat is overlooking the creek.
The rooms have a small balcony but its is the only opening, therefore they are quite dark.
The pool is a bit old fashioned as well but does the job, even though is tis too close to the street to my liking

Pros :
Very good restaurants and room service.
Service in general is professional and provided with professionalism.

Therefore, for a few days and if you don't intend to linger in your room, it is perfectly nice, especially if you have a delicate palate

Room Tip: up up up in the upper rooms

“Perfect hotel in the Creek area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The Radisson Blu Deira Creek was the first of three hotels we stayed at during our first visit to Dubai in November 2011. Looking back we are glad that we moved hotels within our ten day stay. We felt it allowed us to soak up more atmosphere of the individual areas that make up Dubai as a whole. So starting our holiday at the Radisson in old Dubai, we moved on to the Al Manzil hotel in the downtown area and ended our holiday at the Sofitel Jumeira Beach on the coast.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Radisson Blu Deira Creek. As many others have commented it is worth going for a Royal Club room. Complimentary pick-up from the airport was smooth and the room itself - even though somewhat dated in decor - was fine and had all the amenities you would expect of a hotel in this class. Our view of the Creek from the (small) balcony was very nice. Wonderful to see the abra's in the distance crossing the Creek, especially at dusk when their lights are on. Evening drinks in the club lounge were good and included a decent sparkling wine. The coktail hour snacks were okay, although be warned that you might be slightly disappointed if you arrive expecting the variety and quality of the hors d'oeuvres served at, say, the executive clubs of Conrad, Shangri-La or Sofitel.

The hotel’s location is perfect to wander around old Dubai. The various souks and the abra stations are within walking distance. Do go across by watertaxi and explore the other side of the Creek. Cheap hotel cars are readily available too. We also had dinner one evening on the hotel’s own dhow. Very affordable and highly recommended, both for the wonderful views of the Creek and the quality of food onboard. Food at the Radisson is no problem. It has many in-house restaurants. We dined at the hotel’s upmarket Persian restaurant once (very good) and at the more down to earth English pub for a tasty burger and chips.

We also enjoyed the couple of times we spent time by the swimming pool. Didn’t go in the water so can’t comment on the temperature, but at least there were sufficient loungers available when we were there. The small swimming pool area and the consequent lack of loungers in relation to the number of hotel guests proved to be a minus at both the Al Manzil and the Sofitel later during our holiday. Full marks to the Radisson here!

So would we stay again? We really enjoyed Dubai so we will definitely be back in the near future. And if it were for the hotel alone the answer would be: very likely. Although it might be an older property we felt it has aged well. Not one of the prettiest of hotels on the outside, it has a has a charm about it which we liked once you’re inside. And the members of staff all proved to be are a real credit to the property. So as always it all comes down to personal preferences in the end. For us that would probably mean a return to the downtown area and its offerings of good bars and restaurants around the Dubai Mall and the world-class hotels in its immediate vicinity. For those that want to stay in the Creek area: go for the Raddisson Blu and enjoy! You won’t be disappointed!

We stayed here for 7 nights over Christmas and found the room very comfortable and loved having a balcony overlooking The Creek. Metro station is very close as are the terminals for the water taxis.

“Excellent hotel with great service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

Stayed here for 4 nights from 5-9 January 2012. The staff really can not do enough to assist make your stay as pleasant as possible. The hotel is in a great position with almost everyroom having a Creek view. We were on the 4th floor and the room was faultless, clean, large, with a small balcony and free wifi. The hotel has a wide variety of restaurants, a number being highly recommended. However we generally ate out at the local restaurants which were often Iranian or offered a wide range of cuisines.
The hotel, by Dubai standards, is quite old but is in first class condition and is quite convenient for the airport, the cruise terminal, the old parts of the city with its souks and the abra ferries across the Creek are close by. The hotel also has a sunbathing area and open swimming pool on the second floor which were very pleasant.
We unfortunately left some clothing in the top of the wardrobe but I emailed the hotel and they confirmed they had found it and stored it for us to collect some 7 days later when we returned from our cruise.
We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel and would certainly use it again.
