My honoust and straight forward review about this old lowclass hotel.
Don't book this hotel in Deira, it's old in a bad condition and very smelly.
Follow my advice and go for Holiday in Barsha or any others in the area. There are plenty good quality hotels in Downtown in Dubai. Definetely this one is not as expected.
Once arrived, a manager called Mr.Cajetan from India at the reception will treat you like if you are not welcome, without respect. Unbelievable. Imagine you arrive late and tired and then this Mr Cajetan (Reception) acts like a Nono in front of you.....I can't believe that a worldclass fivestar hotel hires such unexperienced unprofessional receptionist.
Then when you come to your room the very bad room smell and carpet smell is mascared by dozens of toilet refreshers sprayed in the room.
Bathroom is dirty, furniture is old and falling in pieces. No view from the windos at all. I will never book this hotel again..

The hotel might need some refreshing (my room door was not closing (but this has been efficiently fixed in 15 minutes), the swimming pool is not exactly appealing, the furniture is a bit old, etc) but overall the room is rather comfortable and clean. Breakfast is generous if not original. The trick is about location: If you want something rather close to the airport and the old city, this is a good choice, but if you want to be close from the center and modern "attractions" (are there really attractions in Dubai anyway?!) then it will take some time to move around. In my opinion, an hotel to consider if you have little time and don't want to stay at the airport.

i would recommend getting a price up front from hotel if considering hotel transport; tended to be double local taxi
pool area a bit disapointing and some maintenance work needed
overall good
