“An American's Perspective - Good Value, So-So Location Depending on ur Itinerary!”
Hotel Location: So-So location- not in central part of Burh Dubai. Not central to Metro & most site seeing, downtown sites (Burh Khalifa, Dubai Mall) & nightclubs, but taxi rides didn't exceed 30AED (about $7.00USD) so it really wasn't a big deal.
Anemenities: Small infinity-type pool, but well kept. Sun I sort of blocked by adjacent buildings.
Gym, small, but modern. Only 2 treadmills, but new & modern. No stairmaster & maybe there were 2 other cardio pieces. Modern free weights & few weights machines, which I didn't use so cannot comment. They were in process of refurbishing &painting room (May 22-25, 2012).
My Background: I am female, 43 yrs old native Californian who travels for fun & stay in hotels that are trendy & usually running a hotel special on a 4 or 5 star hotel (US standards), for a 3 star price.
Hotel Cost & Perks: I paid $117/night (including taxes) & this included free breakfast everyday (which I didn't eat so cannot comment on any food at this hotel) & also included a free gift. I got deal directly off hotel website. Expedia & Orbitz both wanted $25 more & did NOT include breakfast or free gift. The gift was a basket of fresh fruit, which the hotel delivered as a surprise after my workout. LUV Surprises! I booked their cheapest room-2 twins w/ no view & I asked for an upgrade & got it. No view, but awesome room layout & was very comfortable! I also arrived at 8:00am, but checkin wasn't until 200pm, but they had a room for me by 10am!!
STAFF: The staff was very accomodating at this hotel. Ahbi was so friendly & so were all his other coworkers.
THE ROOM: The room I got was like a little apartment. It's their refurbished room. A marble walkway leading to a large bathroom with a tub & a stand alone shower opposite the tub. Two large closets, a safe, a bar area & mini fridge.Very spacious room. They just need a TV in the bathroom & someone could sleep in there LOL! A nice dark wood desk, an adjacent red velour-fabric chair & also another desk & dresser opposite side completes the room.
4 STAR RATING: There is no concierge, but the front desk went out of its way to drum me up a nightlife itinerary, so I was happy. Once the hotel adds somemore staff because at times I had to wait more than 5 mins for help @ front desk b/c they were swamped), I think it could be well on its way to being an excellemt 4star hotel.
FREE WIFI: I have an Android 3 phone & although hotel offers free WiFi (most Dubai hotels charge 25AED for 1 hr ($6.00USD), my phone NEVER worked thhe 3 days I was there. The business center offers 24/7 FREE internet use.
