Situated on the Walk along Jumeriah beach, Sofitel Jumeriah is in a great location - a bit late writing this review as my wife and I stayed at the hotel in September for my birthday. We stayed for 7 days and this is what we thought: Greeted with wonderful dates and a cold drink at reception. Very friendly and helpful people on the front desk and although we were staying in a standard room looking over the beach, they gave us a "Butler" so as if we had any issues we could contact him directly and would sort it out. Before arriving my wife sent them an e-mail requesting a non-smoking room and informing that the holiday was a surprise birthday treat for me (her husband!!), they made sure we had a beautiful room on a non-smoking/high floor room overlooking the beach. The butler on my birthday left a bottle of sparkling wine, a chocolate cake and when we went out, came back to a bubble bath with rose pettles, my wife really enjoyed that!!! The room is typical Sofitel standard, very clean, tidy and immaculate. We found it to be a good size, great bathroom with a big bath tub and a good walk in shower, although the toilet room was very tiny and difficult to position yourself if you are tall!!! But don't let that put you off as it is a very high standard hotel room.
The pool area, yes it is not massive, but we never struggled getting a place to rest with space around us, we did not feel like we were on top of other people and felt relaxed. The hotel pool bar staff are great/very helpful and the pool itself is very relaxing and you can stay in it overlooking the walk and beach for ages watching the "world go past" We were able to pick up wifi by the pool as well. We walked to the metro station and took about 15 minutes but it was like boiling hot outside!!! The new Dubai Mall is a good 30 to 40 minute taxi trip or if you get the metro it doesnt stop outside the Mall you still have a 5/10 minute walk to the mall. We only ate breakfast at the Hotel and it was very good, vast choice and lots of staff always replacing the food with fresh. For lunch and Dinner - get the Dubai Entertainer guide for 2:1 meals, there are plenty of restaurants on the walk (however we found that the restaurants on the walk don't cook the meals fresh they cook them earlier and re-heat when you order, hence why the food comes very quickly - we had a few woeful meals on the walk - that is another story!!). I have stayed at various other hotels in Dubai and have to say the Sofitel is outstanding. All the staff are very helpful, the hotel is very clean and tidy. The staff are a credit to the Sofitel group, could not do enough for us. I found out how much my wife paid for the 7 nights and for what she paid I have to say surprised me as I thought she would have paid a lot more as the hotel is nothing short of absolute quality - 5* hotel, 5* Service, 5* Staff and 5* bedroom - highly recommended. Very modern and beautiful hotel.
Room Tip: E-mail them before asking for a high floor room - essential.
