They will take a copy of all passports for people staying. We were not asked for a marriage certificate as some hotels threaten. Our hotel room was clean and looked similar to what you would expect out of a newer holiday inn express in the United States. It sounds like upper floors have a good view, but the upper floors are smoking. Room included a fridge, tea maker ect. We brought our own soaps because reviews said soaps were not in the room- which isn't entirely true- there is hand soap and hair/body wash in the shower- but they are installed similar to what you would find at the gym. Smell good, but I still prefer distinct shampoo/conditioner. Hotel breakfast each morning had delicous croissants, chocolate croissants, bread, jam, cheese, cucumbers, pita bread, tomatoes, olives, lebknah (Cream cheese/sour cream stuff), some kind of egg (scrambled or hard boiled), some kind of sausage ( Turkey Bacon, Beef Breakfast Sausage, Chicken Breakfast Sausage - sorry fellow non-muslims- no real bacon), and either potato croquets (kinda like tots) or baked beans, yogurt, cereal, juice, a very nice coffee machine, and huge supply of tea. All in all- much better than what you'd get at a Holiday Inn Express in the states.
A few minor down sides - internet is 15 AED for 30 minutes even in public areas and only public areas have wifi. This promised free shuttle is questionable at best and not free to the airport. If you want to do a desert safari hotel will quote you 225 AED - we found it online for 150 AED - But I recommend saving your money on that tourist trap of an experience. We asked the hotel for some metro/bus instructions to get some where and they simply told us to take a taxi. We also ended up paying 5 AED per phone call. Even though they were like 2 minutes each to set up the safari. We also paid for the mistake call we got a busy signal on.
So although we had a few gripes, for what we paid for it, it was more than adequate by western standards. Clean, comfortable, all around pretty good.

Dear Rightstuff Pilot
Just wanted to say a big thank you for all the time and effort you spent on writing your review on Holiday Inn Express Jumeirah. You spent a lot of time putting detail into your review and it is one of the most accurate reviews I have seen. Thank you very much. You would make a great journalist !
As in a lot of western countries, internet is complimentary, but in the Middle East this is still very much chargeable in all hotels and I can not see this changing soon. However we are due to install Wifi in May 2012 to avoid the use of data cables.
For all guests travelling to Dubai, shop around for excursions as the prices do change and there are always specials that you can find in magazines and online. Always pay a little extra to ensure you get a quality car, driver and experience. It is worth it.
Many Thanks once again. Safe and happy travels for 2012.
Kind Regards
Jo-Ella Moore
