“ummmm mixed bag”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 June 2011

well the hotel has a good name: mercure long with accor: one of the main reason i booked my stay here inspite of a 50-50 rievew on trip advisor.com

rooms good
location not comfortable
breakfast: nah
internet: 30sr. 24hrs--should be with the room package
lobby quiet
2people only at the reception and operator seat
no business center
room is nice and spcacious--but howon eart can you have any TV of the 19th century in this hotel room? just out of place-
mini bar: filled up onl on request
locker: looks like one from the 18th century---huge nd bulky
staff: nice-courtous-helpful: no doubt about that.

main reason for my non-returning here would be the sourrounding.

“Good hotel, great staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2011

I stayed in this hotel while on a business trip to Jeddah. I had a very positive experience there. The hotel is nicely located, not far from the old city (al-Balad) and many of the more central destinations in Jeddah. One thing to keep in mind: the hotel is slightly out of the way, down a side street and not very visible from the main road, so taxi drivers will not always have an easy time finding it. If you plan to stay there I would recommend having the hotel's phone number on your mobile phone so you can call for directions if necessary. Also be aware that the hotel is reached via the King Fahd Road, but many taxi drivers will know it by its old name (Siteen Road). My room was extremely clean and well-furnished. There was an HDTV with many channels and wireless internet access. There is also a restaurant with table service located in the hotel, and a franchise of the very popular fried chicken restaurant Al Baik (like a Saudi KFC) is located across the street, so you can easily find something to eat nearby.

The best part was the staff, who were always friendly, polite, and helpful. Whenever I needed to call a cab, figure out directions to a different part of the city, or get advice about what to see in Jeddah, they were always eager to help. I especially owe my thanks to Mohammed, the Front Office Manager, who went well above and beyond the call of duty to mail me my iPod that I had forgotten at the hotel.

“Good Hotel but location is average”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 April 2011

The Hotel and the staff are nice, but the location is too far away from the city center.
There is nothing in walking distance for sightseeing or after dark walking.
The Gold market is interesting but thats teh only shopping possible at this location.

nice place to stay, the only problem was the location...

For the the paid members there should be 15%, but I got nothing discount...
