“The worst hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We had visited this hotel 22 years ago, but not much had changed. When I booked here, I was led to believe that holiday inn was going to take over, but 2 years later, the sign was still up. In all my travels, this is certainly the worst hotel I have stayed in. Great location, but that's as far as it goes. We complained to the manager about the beds, which were spongy trampolines, and he upgraded us to a suite, which was a bit better than the room, with great views. Bathrooms and rooms, could desperately do with renovations.

Room Tip: Suites have good views of the sea

“Stay here only if forced too”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

I was booked for two nights but stayed just for one. And that was more than enough. It's old, run down and things are falling apart. It's supposed to be taken over by Holiday Inn so hopefully it will improve. Can't get any worse.

My room was on the 2nd floor and even though the windows were closed, it felt like I didn't have any windows given the noise from the traffic. It's also located close to a bustling market so there's generally a lot of traffic.

The bathroom was run down and the fittings were falling apart much like most of the furniture in my room. The food was average at best. We didn't have breakfast included so I paid for mine - $17. I guess the spread was large, but the quality was poor.

Some of the staff were pleasant but others just thought they were doing you a favour.

I would not stay here again and I made that very clear to my local office.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel!

“Great Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

The location of the red sea palace hotel is one of the best in Jeddah id you are business traveler. If you are here on a holiday obviously someone has played a very dirty trick on you! :)

For the average business traveler Jeddah offers a variety of serviced apartments and expensive hotels. I have to say considering I stayed in a not so great serviced apartment the red sea palace was a welcome relief.

Going further into the reviews I am sure you will read that the furniture is rundown the hotel is expensive and the staff are never around. Well the only true thing is yes this is an old hotel!

If you are looking to stay here I would recommend you turn up at the hotel and buy your stay instead of online since I got a better deal that way

They have a decent breakfast buffet and an Italian hotel that I think you should consider if you have no other option!

In terms of location the hotel is perfectly placed especially if you are dealing with business houses based in Balad

The internet was very slow when I was there

“Old and”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

I was told that this hotel was once one of the best in town, with a good location, price and competent welcoming staff. And this is just about the best I can say from what I experienced in Red Sea. The hotel is very old and the rooms reflect that in every single aspect, from the torn fabrics in the sofa and chairs, damp and tobacco stains, peeling wallpaper, dirty carpets, noisy air conditioning, electricity outlets that don't work and one nice 70's design WC that time took care of turning into something with a dirty look.
I have been in some old and strange hotels in south America and Africa but this one is at the top.
Fortunately for the future Red Sea, a wing of the hotel is being renovated, so hopefully it will recover its past glory and perhaps at that time I'll consider going back there.
