“Old and tired”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

I was there on business for a few days.

Reception was just ok no issues during the check in process.

Old furniture and the wall paper on the wall is old and needs to be replaced.

Bathroom and shower still very old and even found a "Razor blade" dispenser still hanging next to the sink

I have created time travel!!!!

Conclusion: There are allot of other choices so your better off looking for another alternative.

Food was nothing special quality wise

Thank you very much for writing your candid review. As you have noted the Sheraton Jeddah Hotel has been around for many years on a prime position overlooking the Red Sea yet close to the airport. In 2009 we have embarked on an ambitiopus US$ 35 million renovation project in which the entire hotel, guest facing as well as all services "behind the scenes" is being renovated. To date the 2 garden wings with 85 rooms, the Sheraton Fitness, the basement meeting facilities as well as parts of the lobby have been completely renovated. The renovated rooms feature the latest technology for todays business and leisure traveler and have a bright modern look. At the moment we are focussing on culinary areas. One restaurant at a time is being renovated, and this will be followed by a lobby and reception extension mid 2012. Unfortunately your room appears to have been a non-renovated room. These Red Sea facing rooms will be remodelled towards the end of 2012 in the final phase of the upgrading. The reason the hotel renovates one area at a time is to minimise guest disruption, ensuring our guests are not disturbed by construction noise. If you are back in the area and would like to sample our new product, it will be my pleasure to welcome you back to the hotel and demonstrate that we do listen to feedback such as yours. Please do contact me directly and I will be delighted to accommodate you in our new rooms and personally show you "what's next"! Sincerely Edwin Wijkhuys

“Great hotel on the Corniche”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

The Sheraton Jeddah is not the youngest hotel on the block but still offers a very comfortable stay with touches of luxury and excellent service. Highly recommended is the Club option where you can access wifi, snacks and drinks all day and night for those coming in late or leaving early or not willing to pay prohibitive internet access fees in their room.
I was very lucky to receive a room upgrade (maybe as a returning guest) and enjoyed one of the amazingly spacious suites but I can also vouch for the standard rooms as very spacious, well appointed and with a balcony looking out to the Red Sea. The garden area is very beautiful and the pool area also very inviting.

“business”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

As a single person not a good country to be in as there is no night life.
Hotel location is fairly good as there is a small eatery areas around the back near to the sea.
Very difficult to say good things as come evening you really are limited in what you can do and go.
Restuarants outside of the complex you eat in a separate area which is partioned by a brick wall from the women/family section.
Safety is good.
If you are an early eater then be there by 5.30pm local time or you have to wait until prayers are complete.

Dear guest, thank you very much for your feedback. Jeddah can be a daunting city for business travellers. As you pointed out the hotel is located in one of the prime areas of the city overlooking the Red Sea and only 15 to 20 minutes from the airport. The restaurants and cafes in the mini arcade next to the hotel do indeed close during the prayer period. However, the restaurants and the garden terrace in the hotel itself do remain open during prayer times. If you do return to Jeddah in the future there are some interesting evening suggestions. Jeddah residents enjoy going to the big shopping areas including the Red Sea Mall only 500 metres away from the hotel. The mall is an entertainment venue in itself. The old town (Balad) has to be seen. It is a very old Arab town yet full of life and souks. It is a suggested Unesco world heritage site. Enjoying a shisha and a snack along the Corniche, including our own tropical garden, is an enjoyable way to spend a few hours. In the weekends the hotel can arrange trips to the beach, including our own resort, and arrange trips on dive and snorkeling boats to the outer reef in the Red Sea. Diving around Jeddah is absolutely superb. Exploring the desert and mountain scenery is amazing, and again our hotel can assist in arranging these tours. If UI can assist in any way in making your next trip to Saudi Arabia more special, please do let me know! Sincerely, Edwin Wijkhuys

“We will back again”

We were stay during Eid holiday for two nights and our reservation was sea view room.
Unfortunately we did not get the required room!! We have checked with reception from time to time but we did not succeed. The hotel location is very good close to the sea you can walk on the beach and very quiet hotel. The collection of the breakfast was good but
the fly was disturbing the guests because the restaurant door was left open all the time.
The service was good too.

“Resort makes it special”

Jeddah is not a city you want to spend too much time in, but the Sheraton Jeddah is probably one of the better places to be in the weekend. The hotel operates a beach resort somewhat out of town where you can chill and relax "western style", including a fully fledged restaurant and western expat families from town enjoying themselves. It did the trick for me just fine when I was based in Jeddah on a 2 week stint in the Middle East. The hotel itself has some good large rooms (make sure you book a club room) and a large terrace with good sea views. The small fast food outlets next door in the mini mall also make a good evening meal.

Room Tip: the club rooms have good sea views and are large, ask for a high floor for best views
