“Very nice hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

Spent two nights at this hotel and loved it. My club room was very spacious, with an extra office that let me get work done during the weekend. I also very much enjoyed the view of the red sea and of the corniche. The club lounge was open 24 hours a day and had plenty of snacks and appetizers, as well as very good coffee throughout the day. The service and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I also used the gym which had new equipment. Finally, what I enjoyed the most were the evenings having a (obviously non-acloholic!) drink by the pool, relaxing and cozy atmosphere, truly Middle East! Thank you for this wonderful stay!

Dear guest, thank you very much for your feedback. We are obviously happy to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. It is comments such as yours that are our encouragement to constantly upgrade and improve our services. I noted that you enjoyed the tropical garden overlooking the Red Sea and the Club Lounge. You will be pleased to know that we are presently drawing up plans to improve both these facilities even further in 2012. In the mean time we look forward to welcoming you back during a future stay!
Sincerely,
Edwin Wijkhuys - General Manager

Dear guest, thank you very much for your review. We are obviously pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us, in particular your room and room service. Unfortunately due to the local customs and regulations in Saudi Arabia our swimming pool and fitness centre are indeed "gentlemen only" areas. However we do have arrangements with a nearby beach club which does have a gymnasium and pool (as well as beach) for females. On a future visit please feel free to ask the reception for this service, or contact us prior to your visit so we can make early arrangements for you. Thank you again for your review. “Honeymooner Memorable Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

I really loved it. I stayed the first time on July 2005 during my honeymoon. The second stay was in the same room and the hotel staff send me free cake when I was just chatting telling them I had been here before during honeymoon. I like the lobby, location, the specious room even it was a little bit old, the view to cornich, the swimming pool and the health club.

I strongly recommend it specially for couple. The service is their top priority.

Last week I was staying at Sheraton Jeddah and had a very interesting and pleasant stay. The service is very friendly and the Chinese restaurant on the top floor is really good of quality and service. There is nice pool and even access to their private beach club that is amazing! The GYM is amazing and has great and new equipment.

Dear guest - thank you so much for your feedback. It was great to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. Be assured that your comments about the Chinese restaurant have been passed on to the staff of the restaurant. The comments about the gym are noted in particular as we have recently re-opened this completely upgraded and expanded facility. At present one wing of the hotel is closed for a complete renovation, reopening in October 2011 with brand new rooms and facilities. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future, perhaps in one of these new rooms?! Sincerely, Edwin Wijkhuys - General Manager

“What a terrible hotel - How has it got these reviews??”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 February 2011

I am at a loss to understand how anyone liked this hotel. There is genuinely nothing I can think of that I enjoyed from the moment I got there until the moment I checked out 1 night later to go to the Hilton.

I think the issue is that I was put in a separate block just next to the hotel. I was told these were standard rooms, but they were absolutely awful. They smell, they were old, they were dirty. And despite complaining to the conceierge, they were rude and after 45 minutes told me I didnt have to stay if I didnt want to?! I even asked the bell boy if there was anywhere better to stay in Jeddah, and he implied that this was the oldest most run-down hotel there was so anything was better!!

The food is awful in the restaurant, the gym was a tiny little area with machines from the 1960's in it, and when I asked for a business center they told me I could sit in the lobby!

Genuninely cant think of anywhere I would less like to stay. If you are in Jeddah, go to the Hilton its only about 3 minutes down the road.

Dear guest, thank you very much for your review. Obviously we are very concerned about your comments, and we have taken your feedback to heart. If, despite your obviously negative feelings, you will return to our hotel you will find that the room and hotel wing you stayed in is completely renovated. This includes literally everything from top to bottom. The building has been taken back to the bare concrete and we have started again from there. This is just one phase of the complete rejuvenation of the Sheraton Jeddah. You will also find the completely re-done and enlarged fitness centre with the latest, state of the art equipment. I have no doubt that you will be impressed! Future renovations and additions include the opening of 2 new restaurants overlooking the Corniche and Red Sea, and the renovation of our club floors. We are lucky that, due to the lay our of our hotel in various buildings in the hotel gardens, the impact to our guests during renovation time is minimal. Therefore, I look forward to welcoming you back to our hotel, and feel free to ask for me at the reception and perhaps I will be personally able to show you our exciting plans! Sincerely, Edwin Wijkhuys, General Manager
