This hotel was booked via Booking.com and paid by Credit card. An email confirmation was received from Booking.com with booking reference etc. I also telephoned the hotel directly to confirm the reservation number.
A few hours before check-in, the hotel sent a one-liner email saying they did not have any available rooms!! I have since emailed a complaint asking for a full explanation and apology but, as yet, have not received any contact from hotel.
My boss had to arrive in Jeddah, an unfamiliar hotel in Saudi Arabia, and find another hotel for the night.
We believed that booking through Booking.com was a secure booking (it even showed how many rooms were available at the time of booking) but this is obviously not the case - even if you get an confirmation email!!!!
You may as well book directly with the hotel as then you can be sure of the booking and you don't get any discounts through Booking.com anyway!
A complete waste of my time and a very disappointing experience.
