My wife and I spent three nights here while visiting Hamah and the surrounding area. The only choices seemed to be backpacker places like the Cairo and expensive places like the Cham Palace. All the negative TA reviews on the Cham convinced us to try The Cairo. At 22 euros a night (about 40 US) it was fine: clean enough, functional, friendly staff, etc. No, it did not blow me away and I wish they had a double bed instead of pushing tow singles together, but that seems to be typical of backpacker places like this all over the world, so I am not too critical here. Location is great! Just a five minute walk to the river and the first set of norias. It is right next to several places to eat, some stores, as well as several banks with ATMs and a Western Union office so I was able to change money as needed. All of this was very convenient. One caution though: it is near a mosque and that first call to prayer at 4AM will wake you up. The other backpacker place in Hamah (The Noria) is also on this street so you wont do any better over there.
