While traveling with a group of 5 we had the misadventure of having to stay at Haysoke for 1 night for the sole reason that we couldn't find rooms anywhere else while searching on the web. Truth is that there is not much offer on the Internet, so if you find yourself in the same situation just head to the tourist office or simply walk around town: there are plenty of lovely guesthouses that don't advertise on the web and offer good rooms and service at a fraction of the price. There is no reason to stay at the Haysoke: it's far away from town, it's plain ugly, staff is unfriendly, rooms are shabby and poorly decorated, showers aren't working properly, the bath tub in my "de lux" room was rusty. Prices are definitely off-market, you can get way better rooms for a fraction of what you pay at the Haysoke. As this wasn't enough already the management shamelessly takes advantage of the guests overcharging services like laundry, credit card payment (5%! surcharge!) and applying discretional exchange rates. Stay away from this squalid shack.

Absolute crap. This alleged "hotel" seems to exist only to take advantage of unwilling tourists. It's very far from the center, the rooms are more expensive than normal, the rooms are ugly and uncomfortable, the staff is rude.

Worst of all, they brazenly tried to take advantage of us wherever possible. The room was priced too high. They charged $6 to wash four pairs of underwear. When we tried to pay with kip, they tried to charge a non-standard exchange rate. When we tried to pay with credit card they tried to add 5% to the bill.

In short, it's a bog ugly hotel run by scam artists. Stay closer to town in a prettier room and pay less rather than giving your money to these slimy gutterscum.

I read a few reviews of this place and as we are on a pre-booked tour I had little optoin but to stay at this hotel. I must say form reading the reviews I was apprehensive but having stayed at this hotel I have been impressed. It is a no frills sort of joint but it's walkable to the main night market and hustle and bustle of the town. The staff our friendly and will organise tuk tuks etc. They even got me a bag of ice for my foot which I damaged, without screwing me over on the price (5000 kip inc transport). The breakfast is good, not AMAZING but just what you need.

I would stay here again.

We stayed at the Haysoke as part of a small group tour and would not have chosen it if making our own arrangements. To be fair, the airconditioning worked, there was plenty of hot water and the hotel was reasonably clean. On the downside, the room we had was poky and ugly, the outlook from the window was unappealing and in the bathroom the shower curtain rail kept falling down and there were no hooks or shelves. The hotel's own facilities are minimal, the restaurant appears to serve only breakfast (which was OK) and there is little in the way of attractive restaurants, internet or shopping in the surrounding area.
Above all, this hotel is very poorly located, outside the central area and a long hot walk or a tuk tuk ride from anything of interest. In a city which seems to have plenty of attractive and well-located guesthouses and hotels it should definitely be well down the list of possible choices.
