We enjoyed our stay here and really loved Luang Prabang in general. The guesthouse is an older traditional building which adds to its charm with wooden clad rooms . The bathrooms are small but fine and the manager is friendly. We liked the location as it was on the river and in a quiet place but having said that this would apply to most of Luang Prabang as it is hardly a party town and is a small town so easily covered on foot or tuk-tuk.

We had a great 6 night stay here. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The manager was very nice and professional - and also upgraded us a couple days into our stay to a room with a balcony, which made a big difference and was lovely. It's an older building with a traditional feel to it. And the location is really great - just a bit away from the center, making it restful at night, and a quick walk to everything.

We booked Muanglao Riverside online and upon reaching there, the staff got a tuktuk to send us to another hotel, Mekong Holiday Villa which is just a short distance away. I think the whole confusion about the location is because both of the hotels belong to the same owner, Dan. And the new room he transfered us to is even better than what was booked. Dan and his staff ensured us a pleasant three nights stay. The location is great and quiet. It's near the tribal market and across the hotel, there are great riverside eateries and the boat pier is jus right there.
Our hotel booking came with a free breakfast. They always asked us which we prefered, English breakast or Laos breakfast. We tried their Laos breakfast each morning. The staff take great care in serving us Laos breakfast. I think a breakfast with Lao noodle, eggs, bacon and sausages, fruit, drink can't go very wrong with most people, so lets be fair to them. We miss Luang Prabang and we miss the staff even more. They're great people!! To the Xandria team, keep up the good work and may your business prosper, many thanks!!

Muonglao Riverside has a great location on the banks of the Mekong in the heart of the Old Town within easy reach of all the nice restaurants and bars.
The room was adequate but not amazing – some strange wiring and switch combinations!!
My one major issue is the staff, although the manager spoke perfect English, the rest of the staff spoke pretty much none – any question was met with a blank face (even when ordering a Coke or asking for the wifi password – questions you’d expect to be asked most days as a hotel receptionist?). They had to resort to phoning or tracking down the manager for every question I had – none of which were complicated or different to the normal questions asked in a hotel!
However, it is good value for money if you can cope with the quizzical looks from the staff you’ll get with every question!!
