I booked a room at Le Tam Tam for 3 nights by e-mail. Upon arrival at the hotel, no one seemed to know anything about my reservation. They simply said "we don't have it". I suggested that they'd better check, and so finally they decided to act. Apparently my name was written on a chalkboard which indicated my reservation, but they chose to ignore it. They finally took me to an upstairs room, which was fairly nice, but filled with mosquitoes. I lit a mosquito coil and went out for a walk so the bugs could die. Things were fine until I decided to get some sleep that night. There was a karaoke bar immediately below and the thumping of the bass and caterwauling customers compelled me to go downstairs and say something to the staff. My pleas did nothing to reduce the volume of the noise, and even with earplugs, I was lying there awake until after 1:00pm, when they finally closed the bar. In the morning, there was nothing but cold water in the shower, so I didn't bother, and took my stuff and left. I told them I'd be back to settle my bill later. I returned several hours later and they still seemed adamant on charging me for my one sleepless night, but I bargained them down a bit. I would never recommend that noisy hell hole to a friend.

We arrived in Luang Prabang on the slow boat, so got there quite late at night and had trouble finding accomodation.

We walked passed this place and it looked pretty good so we decided to go inside and take a look. Outside is a pleasant dining area with wooden tables. Inside is a large TV screen, a pool table and a bar, which is all well decorated and comfortable.

The rooms are accessed by a door next to the end of the bar. We were shown a twin room for $10 a night. Admittedly the room was a little dark, but was very clean and the beds were the most comfortable we had slept in for a number of weeks. There was a mini fridge with free drinking water.

The bathroom was very large and clean, and had a high quality electric shower which was very welcome.

The location of this hotel is excellent, 2mins walk to centre of Luang Prabang.

The food was good, albeit overpriced for the area so we ended up eating elsewhere. The beer is well priced however. The staff at this hotel are very nice, friendly people. Service was a little slow but we found this all across the country.

I liked it enough to stay for all of my trip in Luang Prabang, and would come back here again.
