This was our second visit to Luang Prabang, and our first stay at Lotus Villa. The location is perfect - hidden on a quiet street right in the heart of old-town Luang Prabang, but close to everything we wanted to see and do. We rented bikes directly from Lotus Villa and used them the entire time we were there - and we could store them in the lobby overnight - perfect transportation. The staff were professional and very friendly. We got an excellent recommendation from one staff member for a Lao market (Phousy Market) where my wife found a beautiful traditional Lao dress. The garden dining area is cozy and beautiful. The Owner and his staff meander from table to table every morning during breakfast making conversation with the guests. We were very impressed by the owner - an Australian man named Andrew who lives full-time in Luang Prabang. He took the time to learn the language, treats his staff with respect, and even sponsors a nearby orphanage.
Our room was spacious and very clean, with doors opening to the garden area. We loved the ornate woodworking, the painted art on the wall, and the large tub.
The early morning monk processing walked right outside on our street (literally outside our front door), with local Lao residents sitting quietly on the side of the road giving sticky rice to the monks as they passed.
We would definitely stay here again - Lotus Villa was a perfect complement to our favorite destination in our 2-week Southeast Asian vacation.
Room Tip: Our room was just a standard room and we loved it. There are larger villas in an adjacent building...
