This hotel is actually two different hotels: The main hotel by the night market in the center of Luang Prabang, and another one, identified as Ban Phonheuang about ten minutes walk away from the main hotel. The hotel web site is not clear about this, and it actually shows pictures from both locations as if it is all the same hotel. It's confusing; we thought we had booked rooms in the main hotel, but in fact ended up on the other one.
That wasn't entirely bad: We liked the slightly more rural atmosphere and didn't mind the short walk (only ten minutes) to the centre. It was quiet, and we woke up in the morning to the sounds and smells of women preparing food on open fires just across the street! Very nice.
The main drawback is that the hotel rooms does not have separate baths; but they instead have bathtubs inside the bedroom. Some people might find this quaint, - to others it might be a blocker for choosing this hotel (fortunately the toilet is in a separate room). One of our rooms (the one called "tiger") was close to a water tank (probably the hot water tank) that makes quite a lot of clearly audible sounds, also during the night.
The rooms were clean, and the beds were fine. The breakfast was OK; not buffet, but you chose from a menu that contains four-five different breakfast options (american, bagel, pancake, etc). You can rent bicycles from the hotel, and there are several massage parlors nearby (the one across the street is very basic, the one next door is more upscale and expensive, - and better). There is also a small family business 50 meters down the street providing very affordable laundry service (we used it). The staff is friendly, but somehow comes across as inexperienced. Charming, in a way. They asked us about 10.000 times what day we would pay our bill.
Conclusion: Not a bad place to stay if you can accept the unorthodox bathroom solution.
Room Tip: The room called "tiger" is next to a slightly noisy water tank.
