“Simple but classy”

We only stayed for 2 nights but could easily have stayed longer. Villa Santi is right in the heart of the special town which is Luang Prabang. The monks process past the front of the hotel during their daily collection of food and alms. You need to get up very early to witness this and even to take part, local women sell cotainers of sticky rice which is then given to the numerous monks. My wife found the whole experience to be very moving.
The hotel is quite small, our room faced onto the open courtyard at the rear of the hotel, during the day we were soothed by the sound of the water fountain close to our room. The room itself was spacious and well appointed, some antique pieces added to the ambience, our regret is that we did not spend more time in the hotel. There is so much to see in Luang Prabang we only scratched the surface. .
Breakfast was up to standard, plenty of choice, the best part of breakfast was that we sat on the balcony overlooking the "main" road. We did not eat any meals in the restaurant, as it was Christmas Eve whilst we were there we "partied" at the sister hotel (Villa Santi Resort).
If you enjoy a bit of peace and quiet in comfortable surroundings then Villa Santi is for you,the staff were superb in all respects.
There are bars and restaurants very close by. It has everything going for it. Maybe we will return .....

“A memorable stay at Villa Santi Hotel in Luang Prabang”

This was our second time visiting Luang Prabang. Tried to book a room at Villa Santi for 3 consecutive years but couldn't get a room until this Dec. Had a wonderful and memorable stay. All of the staff were very helpful and very friendly. The room is just perfect for 2 person. The hotel is in the best location one could ask for. I just love it there and the hotel will definitely be our only choice for Luang Prabang.

“An excellent restaurant does not a good hotel make”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

I had lunch at the Villa Santi restaurant on the first floor overlooking the main street in Luang Prabang after my hike to the top of Phousi Hill. I thought I deserved a reward and I got it. I was the only patron until French tourists arrived. Service was excellent and food was great. Not cheap - but cheap is not the reason I went to this restaurant nor to Lao. A little indulgence well worth the price; although even the local beer cost three times as much as in the cafes on the Mekong.

I had 2 entrees - Mekong riverweed deep-fried with sesame seeds and chilli paste (a fantastic Lao staple I gather) and lemon grass stuffed with chicken meat served with sweet chilli paste - another fantastic Lao speciality - served after the starter of fried peanuts. For main course, I had boiled fish with Lao vegetables and steamed rice - not the favoured Lao sticky rice. Far too much to eat for lunch, but very enjoyable - and all for under US$20.

The tip - stay somewhere much cheaper such as Sala Prabang at about one third of the price, and spend the savings on great food and trips into the countryside.

Too expensive for very dark rooms, in front of a wall.
Sexual tourism admitted: sometimes less of quietness.
No computer for customers.
