“Room price can be haggled down by haggling with reservation desk, so hence it made my stay worthwhile.”

Stayed at Marriott for 5 days in a standard room, i think the actual price of a room is 8000rs but I got it lowered to 6300rs. There is no free internet and 24hrs costs about 1200rs which is kinda expensive if I say so. Everything is really expensive in the hotel, to use the printer it costs 60rs to print a page, and a 1.5 liter of unbranded water costs 170rs (nestle bottle of water same size costs 30rs). All the hotels in karachi charge exorbitantly high rates for basic items. I've stayed at the Pearl Continnental Hotel (PCH) also, the PCH room was cleaner then the Marriott room. Also in the marriott rooms bathroom there were strands of hair in the bathroom from the previous guest, which I tought was pretty disgusting. They have a complimentary breakfast which is pretty scrumpcious. The gym is really small, the pool is outdoor on the 2nd floor and seems to be really popular with pigeons (were a lot of pigeon droppings in the pool). A room at the PCH costs about 10k rs, if you can get the room at the PCH down to 7500rs, you should stay there, but the marriott 6300rs was a really good deal.

I stayed here for 3 nights, food was good. Service was good., it was so hot outside, I didnt leave the hotel much, only for work. It is safe and quiet., away from the traffic etc outside. I will stay there again next time I go to Karachi., Its cheaper than other hotels around as well.

“Really not that special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 April 2010

Everything was unexpected from my arrival on. My room was not the same as the pictures they have on the internet for an executive room. During my stay, they decided to paint the rooms next to me, which resulted in horrible pain smells just about every day. The hotel rent a car service was way too expensive, taking the fact that the street is blocked to taxis for security reasons to their advantage. Every time I asked someone help about something, I was made to feel like I was asking way too much and that I was demanding. I asked about French TV, but was not even called back, etc. The food for breakfast is average and the executive lounge is really not that special.

What worked well was the sports facility (provided that you don't ask for a massage, in which case the masseuse will try to pocket the fee herself by demanding that you pay her directly) and also the internet, so fast that skype worked without a problem. I wish that the service that is advertised on the internet was a reality. It was too cumbersome for me to change hotels, but I definitely would not return if I ever come back to Karachi.

“High Security”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2010

Nice hotel in a very dangerous city. The hotel's security is boosted by the fact that next door is the US Consulate. Some of the streets in the area are blocked to prevent access. The park across the street is closed to all. The Consulate is building at a new location and when it is completed that may affect security.

“Excellent 5-star hotel”

Second time I stayed at the Karachi Marriott. Both times were great. All the rooms have been renovated since my last visit. If you are looking for a safe, secure, and wonderfully comfortable hotel, this might be the best choice.
