My wife and I lived in University Town, Peshawar, from '93 to '97 and were there when the Khan Club started. We used to go there for dinner all the time and were so impressed with the rooms and eventually decided that though we lived in the town we should at the very least stay there a few times. We did, absolutely spectacular. The design of the rooms has been made with the utmost of taste and the atmosphere is quite historical. Friends of mine have stayed there since '97 and agree with our sentiments. Don't miss it.

The Khan Club is a hotel from a by-gone era. The hotel has been fully restored and refurbished at great expense. The result is magnificant. The restaurant serves great meals at a very reasonable price. It is located in the oldest and most historic part of Peshawar. You will see hundreds of horses and donkeys and you will think you are in the old west.

I will look forward to returning to Khan Club and Peshawar.

I did not stay overnight at the hotel. However, based on everything I saw, I would definitely stay there if I was a tourist. The hotel manager gave my colleagues and me a very nice tour. The hotel is UNIQUE, and in a good way. Each room has its own 'jeweled' them. The Garnet Room, the Ruby Room, the Topaz Room, the Lapis Room, etc. They are very beautifully decorated with antiques all over the place. Although the steep stairways are treacherous (no OSHA here) and could be the cause of some serious vertigo, the rooms are nice and the staff friendly with pretty good English skills. The drawbacks would be that the mattresses all seemed to be foam padding and the rooms are dimly lit. I did not notice air conditioning in the rooms, which would be a killer in the summertime. However, the ambiance was amazing. We ended up eating a very nice traditional Pakistani dinner in the downstairs main room (on pillows and rugs; no chairs). Delicious.
